Research BackgroundFrom an international perspective, research on interest in physical education has attracted more and more attention. In our country, the policy guidance of school health in the past 30 years has increasingly emphasized both physical and mental health, and the close connection between sports and health. The "Sports and Health"curriculum of primary and secondary schools has been promoting new curriculum standards in the past two years, with special emphasis on cultivating youths' interest in sports learning and improving the effect of physical education.School health policies also emphasize the protection of students' right to rest, improve sleep quality, and promote physical and mental health. But in the actual implementation process, there are still many specific issues to be explored.Research PurposesThis study investigates the current status of interest in physical education, sleep quality, and subjective well-being of primary and secondary school students in Jining City,Shandong Province, and conducts a multi-dimensional comparative analysis to study their relationship.Suggestions are made regarding school public health and the promotion of adolescents' physical and mental health, with the objectives of putting forward corresponding countermeasures for more targeted development of "Physical Education and Health" in teaching, and to provide references for cultivating the core literacy of youth sports and health.Research MethodsThis research mainly uses literature review, interviews, questionnaire surveys, and statistical analysis.Among the questionnaires, there are four scales, namely:Primary and Secondary School Students' Sports Learning Interest Scale,Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Index of Well-Being,and Social Anxiety Scale. They are all commonly used standardized scales with relatively high reliability and high validity. In this study, samples were taken according to the class.1950 questionnaires were distributed and 1,904 questionnaires were returned.Among them,483 were in primary schools,630 were in junior high schools, and 791 were in high schools. All data are statistically analyzed by spss23.0,and the processing methods include descriptive statistics,t-test,correlation analysis, multivariate analysis of variance and regression analysis.Main ResultsIn terms of Sports learning interest, there are gender differences in each school stage, and male students have higher interest than female students. There is an interaction between school stage and gender.Male students' interest in physical education only decreased significantly in high school, while female students have a higher interest in physical education in the upper grades of elementary school but the interest decreases significantly in junior high school and continues to high school. In terms of sleep quality, the general trend is a decline with the increase of the school levels.Among them, the differences between male students in different school stages are statistically significant, and the differences between female students'primary and secondary schools are statistically significant. There are gender differences in the total scores of PSQI in the junior high schools.19.5%of adolescents in Jining City had sleep problems(PSQI?8).Among them, the detection rate was 7.3%among elementary school students,23.3%among junior high school students and 24.3%among high school students. With the increase of school level, the social anxiety of adolescents has an increasing trend, while the Index of well-being has a decreasing trend.Correlation analysis results show that the total score of sports learning interest is correlated with the total score of PSQI(r=-0.298,P<0.01).The total score of the Sports Learning Interest Scale is negatively correlated with the Social Anxiety Scale(r=-0.294,P<0.01),and positively correlated with the total score of the Index of Well-Being(r=0.346,P<0.01).Using stepwise multiple regression analysis,it was found that among the influencing factors on subjective well-being,six factors entered the regression equation in turn:the total score of the sleep quality index, total score of sports learning interest, school type, total score of social anxiety scale, school stage, and living on campus.Their joint explained variance was 40.6%.Conclusions and SuggestionsThere are differences in gender, school stage, and region in the interest in physical education in elementary and middle schools. The interest in physical education of Jining female students continued to decline from elementary school to high school;the sleep quality of primary and high school students in Jining showed an overall decline in the secondary school stage. The interest in physical education of adolescent students was negatively correlated with the sleep index and the degree of social anxiety, but positively correlated with subjective well-being.The sleep index of adolescent students is positively correlated with the score of social anxiety, but negatively correlated with subjective well-being.Among the influencing factors of subjective well-being,sleep quality accounts for the largest proportion, followed by interest in physical education. To sum up,enhancing adolescent interest in sports, reducing sleep disorders and reducing social anxiety are helpful to improve their subjective well-being.This paper puts forward corresponding suggestions from the aspects of policy implementation, public health, school management, physical education, psychological education, family education and self-education.
