[Objective]To explore the effects of 24-style Tai Chi Quan and Tai Chi gait on body balance by doing experimental research with two interventions which are 24-style Tai Chi Quan and Tai Chi gait.Through collecting all the data and then analyzing the mechanism of these interventions on body balance. It is beneficial for qualitative and quantitative researches of 24-style Tai Chi Quan and Tai Chi gait and establishment of more accurate exercise prescriptions.[Methods]257 students from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine were selected randomly from September 2017 to December 2017.All of them were asked to complete the physical activity preparation questionnaire and the exclude some students who were not suitable for participating the experiment. In the end,63 students were included and randomly divided into 24-style Tai Chi Quan group and Tai Chi gait group. The experiment time was 12 weeks,5 time a week and 40 minutes each time. Before starting and finishing the training, all the data including static balance, dynamic balance, ankle dorsiflexion ROM,response time and vertical jump height had to be measured and recorded by Excel form. Then using SPSS system to analyze data with two groups.[Results](1)After 12 weeks of 24-style Tai Chi Quan and Tai Chi gait training, there was no significant statistic difference on static balance test, between these two groups(P>0.05),and same result was showed on the both inter-groups(P>0.05).(2)After 12 weeks training, the dynamic balance data on both two inter-groups significantly changed(P<0.01),including total score,posterior-lateral and posterior-medial direction while forward direction. There was no difference between 24-style Tai Chi Quan group and Tai Chi gait group(P>0.05).It showed that these two interventions can increase human body's dynamic balance.(3)After 12 weeks training, the dorsiflexion angle data of three states which are knee extension, knee flexion with 90 degrees and weight bearing were dramatically different between two inter-groups(P<0.01).At the same time, the effects of 24-style Tai Chi Quan group and Tai Chi gait group were the same and no difference between these two groups(P>0.05).It indicated that the two interventions were able to increase dorsiflexion and would benefit to body balance.(4)In terms of reaction time and vertical jump height, there were no changes on two groups(P>0.05).The data proved that 24-style Tai Chi Quan and Tai Chi gait could not improve explosive force.[Conclusion]After 12 weeks training, for the static balance data, reaction time and vertical jump height data, there were no significant changes on two groups. While for dynamic balance and dorsiflexion angle, dramatically changes occurred on both two groups and inter-groups.According to the results,we found that no matter whether it is 24-style Tai Chi Quan or Tai Chi gait which has the highest gait rate, they can play the same important role in improving the balance of human body. Moreover, the Tai Chi gait which simplifies the complex movements of the upper body from 24-style Tai Chi Quan is simpler and easier to learn, and can be qualitatively and quantitatively researched. All of those are beneficial for further research and clinical promotion.
