Objective: To investigate the current situation of compassion fatigue of aged care nursing staffs in xinjiang, and further analyze the influencing factors of compassion fatigue of nursing home workers,so as to provide practical reference for institutional managers to choose effective measures to improve compassion fatigue of nursing staffs. Methods: This paper analyzes the current situation of compassion fatigue and its influencing factors of aged care nursing staffs in xinjiang by combining quantitative and qualitative methods.By means of convenient cluster sampling,327 nursing staff from 20 pension agencies in xinjiang were surveyed face to face by Professional Quality of Life Scale,Interpersonal Reactivity Index-Chinese,Perceived Organizational Support Scale and Psychological Capital Questionnaire Scale.Guided by the characteristics of the objects, work factors and personal factors,semi-structured interviews were conducted with 16 nurses from different pension agencies and different care objects.SPSS 23.0 was used for data statistical description, rank sum test, correlation analysis and multivariate linear regression analysis. The interview data were analyzed by Nvivo 11.0 and Colaizzi phenomenon analysis.Results:1.The total score of compassion fatigue was 91.60 ± 6.57 points, which was relatively high.Among them, the probability of mild empathy fatigue was 11.01%(36 patients),49.54%(162 patients)were moderate, and 39.45% were severe;2.The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that: The institutional nature, the score of the evaluation of the organization, working hours, senior citizen/carer,empathic ability, sense of organizational support had effects on the score of compassion fatigue(P<0.05);Marital status, working years, ever caring for the elderly, institutional evaluation score, empathy ability, psychological capital had an impact on the score of compassion satisfaction(P<0.05);The institutional nature, the score of the evaluation of the organization and the ability of empathy had effects on the score of burnout(P<0.05).;Institutional assessment scores, institutional nature, empathic ability, sense of organizational support, and psychological capital had an impact on secondary trauma scores(P<0.05);3.In the semi-structured interview, three themes,11 sub-themes and 33 attributes, were extracted, namely, working factors, personal factors and object characteristics.Among them, there are three work factors(low social status, most people do not recognize;low salary level, trivial work content;long hours, heavy load);4 personal factors(lack of experience;excessive empathy, difficulty in extricating oneself;insufficient empathy, even numbness, negative feeling to life;physical and mental fatigue, heavy psychological burden); The subjects had four characteristics(most disabled elderly with underlying diseases;negative emotions or behaviors;family dynamics, and emotional connections).Conclusion:1.The degree of compassion fatigue of the nursing staff was moderately high.It is negatively correlated with empathy ability, organizational support and psychological capital.2.The main factors affecting compassion fatigue were over 5 years of service, the number and degree of disability of care objects, work characteristics, assessment scores of pension institutions and the nature of institutions, empathy ability and the sense of organizational support.3.It is suggested that institution managers should effectively understand the risk factors affecting the compassion fatigue of elderly nursing staff, and seek intervention measures to improve the emotional support of elderly nursing staff and improve the current situation of compassion fatigue.
