Objective:Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic non-specific inflammatory disease of the intestine with unknown etiology. With the acceleration of social industrialization and aging, the proportion of elderly patients has gradually increased in recent years. This study mainly discussed the change trend of the clinical characteristics of patients with ulcerative colitis at different ages,so as to guide the clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods:In January 2010 to December 2019 were in the hospital and diagnosed with ulcerative colitis patients as the research object, collect the above conform to the standard of all patients with clinical data, will be divided into research object according to the age of 65 or more elderly group and the 65-year-old non elderly group, the comparison between the two groups of lesions scope, severity, complications, treatment, and so on change over time.Results:(1)The proportion of elderly patients with UC increased from 11.8% in 2010 to 24.2% in 2019.(2)The lesion range of elderly patients with UC was mainly left colon, and the severity was mainly mild; The lesion range of non-elderly UC patients was mainly extensive colon, and the severity was mainly severe. The difference was statistically significant.(3)The drug application rate of elderly patients is lower than that of non-elderly patients, and the application rate of biological agents is on the rise.(4)The incidence of complications showed a downward trend, and the incidence rate of the elderly group was lower than that of the non-elderly group.(5)The average annual hospitalization expenses of UC patients showed an upward trend with time, and the average annual hospitalization days showed a downward trend. The non-elderly,the lesion range--extensive colon, the disease degree--severe,the application of hormones and biological agents or intestinal obstruction were related to the upward trend of hospitalization expenses.Conclusions:(1)The proportion of elderly UC patients increased year by year.(2)The lesion range of the elderly patients with UC was mainly in the left half colon, and the range was less than that of the non-elderly group; The degree of severity was mainly mild, and was less severe than that of the non-elderly group.(3)The application rate of biological agents in UC patients of different ages increased year by year; The glucocorticoids application rate of elderly UC patients was lower than that of nonelderly patients.(4)The incidence of complications in UC patients of different ages decreased year by year, and the incidence of complications in the elderly group was lower than that in the non-elderly group.(5)The average annual hospitalization cost of UC patients of different ages increases year by year, and the increase of hospitalization cost is related to non-old age, disease range-extensive colon, disease degree-severe,application of glucocorticoids, biological agents or intestinal obstruction.
