Objective The purpose of this study is to provide information for improving compliance of taking medication in the aged with polypharmacy in the community by investigating the prevalence survey and its influence factors in the aged patients with polypharmacy in Tangqiao community health service centre.Method A total of 204 subjects(aged over 60 years old)with polypharmacy in the general clinic of Tangqiao Community Health Service Center in Pudong New Area,Shanghai were collected from October 2018 to January 2019.General demographic data,the situations of taking medications and chronic diseases,comprehensive geriatric assessment(CGA),the knowledge-belief-compliance of taking medications were included in the questionnaire.All data were statistically analyzed by SPSS 22.0.Results 1.In this study,23% elderly patients had good medication compliance in 204 subjects with polypharmacy.2.Types of medications,briefs of taking medication,ability of daily living and living condition were significant differences in the compliance of taking medication in the elderly with polypharmacy.3.Poor beliefs of taking medications,impaired ability of daily living and the way of living were independent risk factors of medication compliance in the elderly with polypharmacy.Conclusion 1.This study found that the current situation of medication compliance among elderly patients with polypharmacy in the community health service center is not ideal.2.Patients with various types of medications,poor medications beliefs and impaired ability of daily living need to be the focus of attention.On the one hand,general practioners should simplify prescriptions and give these patients the guidance of taking medications under effective treatments.On the other hand,general practioners help them establish the correct medication beliefs by repeated health education,improve medication compliance and thus enhance the treatment effect.
