ObjectiveConduct motivational interview on the elderly patients with chronic heart failure(CHF),evaluate the intervention effects of drug compliance,providing a reference of adherence intervention research.MethodsTake random samplings of 240 elderly patients with CHF from December 2014 to December 2015,the data from the cardiovascular department of a third-grade hospital in Qingdao.Filter 120 patients by condition of disobedience in medicine-taking(or risk)through Screening Questionnaire of Medication Disobedience.Randomly divided 120 patients into intervention group(IG)and control group(CG)with 60 cases each.The CG patients were treated with routine ward care in order to follow the guidance medication according to the handbook including routine care,guidance on Discharge & Admission and knowledge of CHF,while the motivational interviewing were added based on the measures aboved for IG.IG patients received face to face interview,complete in 3 or 4 times(20 minutes separately),60 or 80 minutes in all,Data on medication compliance,medication related briefs,confidence and willingness of compliance and behavior were collected from questionnaire in 1 month and 3 months after discharge.SPSS statistics edition 20.0 was used in analyzing the effects of motivational interviewing on medication compliance of elderly patients with CHF.ResultsData of 104 patients(54 from IG,50 from CG)were collected in 3 months after discharged.Results are statistically significant different between the two grou ps of patients in 1 month and 3 months after discharge(P<0.05).The results are:(1)The compliance of IG(89%?78%)is significantly higher than CG(36%?10%)(P<0.05);(2)The medication related briefs of IG(46.08±4.31?45.97±4.03?44.82±3.98)is higher than that the beliefs about CG(44.23±3.96?40.64±3.85?39.87±3.01);(3)The confidence of compliance in IG(9.01±0.53?8.95±0.85?8.92±0.93)is significantly higher than CG(8.72±0.89?8.57±0.94?7.59±1.01)(P<0.05);(4)The willingne ss of compliance in IG(9.06±0.83?8.92±1.01?8.71±1.01)is also significantly hig her than CG(8.08±1.04?8.01±1.13?7.56±2.01)(P<0.05).ConclusionMotivational interviewing for elderly patients with chronic heart failure can improve medication adherence,medication related beliefs and confidence and willingness of medication compliance.The effect can last at least three months.
