Investigation On Knowledge, Attitude And Practices Of Influenza Prevention And Control Among Primary And Middle School Students In Bengbu City, Anhui Province

Objective: To understand the current situation of influenza prevention and control knowledge,attitude and practices(KAP)of primary and middle school students in Bengbu city,and to provide empirical basis for formulating scientific health education strategy of influenza prevention and control in primary and secondary schools.Methods: The KAP questionnaire for influenza prevention and control of primary and middle school students was self designed.A total of 2907 primary and middle school students in Bengbu city were investigated by the way of stratified cluster sampling method.Results: The awareness rate of influenza prevention and control knowledge of primary school students was 46.75%,the holding rate of positive attitude was 43.95%,and the behavior formation rate was 80.74%,while,The awareness rate of influenza prevention and control knowledge of middle school students was 68.17%,the holding rate of positive attitude was 57.44%,and the behavior formation rate was 83.80%,respectively.The score of overall flu prevention and control knowledge of primary and middle school students was 8.57±3.50 in urban area and 7.52±3.66 in rural area,the difference was statistically significant(t=7.66,P<0.01),and the score of influenza prevention and control knowledge was 7.97±3.70 in boys and that in girls was 8.34±3.47.There were significant differences in KAP level,knowledge awareness rate and positive attitude holding rate among primary and middle school students in different administrativedivisions.The top three ways for primary and middle school students to acquire knowledge of influenza prevention and control were campus publicity or teacher classroom teaching(62.78%),expert lectures held by schools(59.20%),newspapers and magazines(58.45%).The knowledge of influenza prevention and control among middle school students is positively correlated with their grades and regions,in which the OR values of grade 8,grade 1 and grade 2 were 1.52,1.61,2.21 and P<0.05,respectively,and the OR value of city was 1.41 and P<0.05,respectively.The primary school students' knowledge of influenza prevention and control is related to grade,the OR value of grade 5 is 1.97,P<0.05,and it is related to the educational level of their parents,in which the OR values of father culture,senior high school,technical secondary school and junior secondary school are 2.13,2.99,2.28 and P<0.05,respectively.The OR value of undergraduate and above is 3.63,P<0.05.Conclusion:The overall awareness rate,positive attitude holding rate and behavior formation rate of influenza prevention and control knowledge among primary an d secondary school students in Bengbu need to be further improved.The researc h shows that there are differences in influenza prevention and control knowledge among primary and middle school students in terms of region,gender,grade,ad ministrative division and parents' educational level.Among them,the awareness r ate of primary school students' influenza prevention and control knowledge is aff ected by grade and parents' educational level,and the awareness rate of middle s chool students' influenza prevention and control knowledge is affected by grade a nd administrative division.It is suggested that the relevant competent departments in Bengbu City should further strengthen the propaganda and education of influ enza prevention and control in primary and secondary schools and construct a pe rfect network system of influenza prevention and control health education.The G overnment should establish and improve the working Mechanism of Influenza Prevention and Control in Schools Strengthen the supervision and guidance of schoo l health work,especially influenza prevention and control in primary and seconda ry schools,carry out special training for primary and secondary school teachers i n influenza prevention and control,improve the ability and level of campus influ enza prevention and control health education for primary and secondary school te achers,adhere to the combination of general concern and key points,eliminate t he differences between regional and administrative divisions,and ensure the bala nced development of school influenza health education;Schools should constantly enhance the importance of influenza prevention and control,improve the team o f full-time health technical personnel and part-time health teachers in primary an d secondary schools,and clarify the management responsibilities of the regulation s on School Health work.Teachers should increase the knowledge reserve of infl uenza prevention and control,select the influenza health education methods suit able for primary and secondary school students,implement the daily morning exa mination and absence tracking registration system;parents should actively coopera te with the school's influenza prevention and control health education activities,a nd establish an effective "big hand,small hand" knowledge transmission.Throug h the establishment of the above new joint prevention and control mode of "gov ernment department-school-teacher-parent-student",the influenza infection rate of primary and middle school students in Bengbu city can be effectively reduced an d the students' physical and mental health can be ensured.
