Objective To explore the diagnosis and treatment of lung abscess in children.Method The clinical data of lung abscess in 94 children were reviewed and analyzed.Results Among the 94 cases(57 males and 37 females,54 cases with primary lung abscess and 40 cases with secondary lung abscess),with a median age of 2 years and 4 months,the common symptoms were fever,cough,polypnea,dyspnea and chest pain.The albumin in the secondary lung abscess group decreased more,and the average level of CRP and PCT was higher,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05)The top three pathogens were streptococcus pneumoniae(24.69%),staphylococcus aureus(20.99%)and mycoplasma pneumoniae(17.28%).94 children were given systemic antibiotics and 2 children were given antifungal therapy.In addition,18 cases were treated surgically.Among 94 cases,91 cases were improved of their condition and discharged,2 cases gave up treatment and 1 case died,those all came from secondary lung abscess group,there were more cases had a ICU care and longer hospital stays in secondary lung abscess group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The most common pathogens in children with lung abscess are streptococcus pneumoniae and staphylococcus aureus,the infection of mycoplasma pneumoniae developed an upward in recent years.All children with lung abscess need antibiotic treatment,and most of them are improved by conservatively treatment,and some cases require surgical treatment.The cases form secondary lung abscess group had a severe infection condition and longer treatment times.Most of the children with lung abscess had a good efficacy.
