Objective: Irisin is a muscle factor discovered in recent years, which can reduce obesity and improve glucose metabolism. It can change the symptoms of type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease, metabolic syndrome and other diseases.Metabolic syndrome(MS)is a disease characterized by insulin resistance in the body, including obesity, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. The purpose of this study was to explore the correlation between serum irisin concentration and other body indexes of college students with different BMI.Serum irisin concentrations in subjects with MS and those without MS were correlated with other body indicators. Methods: 53 college students aged 22-23 years(male: 28 female :25)were randomly selected from ordinary universities in xiangtan city, and the age, gender, height, weight and waist circumference of all subjects were recorded.53 subjects were divided into normal weight group, overweight group and obese group according to their BMI.Height, weight, waist circumference(WC),systolic blood pressure(SBP)and diastolic blood pressure(DBP),fasting blood glucose(EPG),triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),and fasting insulin(FINS)of 53 subjects were measured and recorded.Serum irisin levels were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),and 53 subjects were divided into MS group and non-ms group according to the diagnostic criteria of MS.Clinical indicators were compared among the three groups. The correlation between serum irisin concentration of all subjects and other body indicators was analyzed.Correlation analysis was conducted between serum irisin concentration and other body indicators in overweight/obesity group.Clinical indicators were compared between MS group and non-ms group. Results: there were no significant differences in gender, age, height, diastolic blood pressure and total cholesterol between the groups. There were no significant differences in age, height, gender, waist circumference, diastolic blood pressure, insulin and total cholesterol between MS group and non-ms group.Serum irisin levels in the normal group were higher than those in the overweight/obese group.Irisin levels were lower in the MS group than in the non-ms group.2.The levels of serum Irisin,EPG,SBP and TG in the overweight/obesity group were negatively correlated. It was positively correlated with diastolic blood pressure and insulin resistance. There was no correlation with age, gender, height, weight, waist circumference and total cholesterol. Conclusions: 1.The serum Irisin level in the overweight/obese group was significantly lower than that in the normal group, suggesting that Irisin may be a predictor of the onset of type 2diabetes in overweight/obese people.2.The serum Irisin level in the overweight/obese group was negatively correlated with blood glucose, systolic blood pressure and triglycerides. It was positively correlated with diastolic blood pressure and insulin resistance. There was no correlation with age, gender, height, weight, waist circumference and total cholesterol, suggesting that Irisin may be involved in the regulation of insulin resistance, lipid metabolism and blood pressure. With the development of type 2 diabetes, its level showed a temporary decline trend.3.Serum Irisin level in the MS group was lower than that in the non-ms group, suggesting that Irisin was a biomarker of pre-ms in college students.
