The Clinical Study Of Auricular Acupuncture For Type 2 Diabetic Patients With Overweight Or Obesity

Objective:The purpose of this study is to observe the effect of different auricular acupuncture to overweight or obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus through randomized control trial,and to evaluate the effects of auricular acupuncture to different ear acupoints.We hope to provide an effective method to improve the health of overweight or obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods:We selecte 90 overweight or obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from the Jiangsu Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine during September 2016 to January 2017 according to the random number table method.They are divided into three groups,namely control group(30 cases),test 1 group(30 cases),and test 2 group(30 cases).All the patients are kept the routine diabetes treatment.They are accepted health education face to face for once a week.The therapeutic to the test 1 and test 2 group patients was stimulating ear acupoints by auricular acupuncture.The main acupoints are Stomach,Mouth,Shenmen,Sanjiao and Endocrine.To the test 2 group,the combination of syndrome differentiation was adopted on the base of test 1 group.The observation period is 4 weeks.Weight,Body Mass Index(BMI),Body Fat Ratio(BFR),Waist Cirumference(WC),Fasting Plasma Glucose(FPG),2 Postpradial hour Plasma Glucose(PG2h),Total Cholesterol(TC),Triglyceride(TG),High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol(HDL-C),Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol(LDL-C),The Scale of TCM Symptoms of Diabetes,Diabetes Scale of Quality of Life(DSQL)before and after 4 weeks.Results:(1)Diabetes symptoms score:Group comparison,the diabetes symptoms score of three groups are improved after intervention,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);Comparison among groups,there is significant difference between three groups after intervention(P<0.05),test 2 group shows the best effect(P<0.01).Comparing the score difference before and after the intervention,the score difference between test group 1 and test group 2 were higher than the control group,test group 2 was higher than that of test group 1,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).(2)Obesity index:Group comparison,after the intervention,the weight,waist circumference,body mass index,body fat ratio of test group 1 and test group 2 were significantly improved,the difference is statistically significant(P<0.01).However,the obese index of the control group showed no significant difference compared with before intervention(P>0.05).Comparison among groups:compared with three groups of the obesity index after the intervention,the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Compare the difference before and after the intervention,the body weight,waist circumference and body fat ratio of auricular acupuncture group is lower than the control group,the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).While there is no statistically significant difference between the test group1 and the test group 2(P>0.05).(3)Glucose and lipid metabolism index:Group comparison,The fasting blood glucose,2h postprandial blood glucose,glycosylated serum protein,total cholesterol,triglyceride and low density lipoprotein of three groups of patients are significantly improved after the intervention,the difference is statistically significant(P<0.01);Comparison among groups,after the intervention,the difference of the three groups is not statistically significant(P>0.05).(4)The score of DQSL:Group comparison,the score of DQSL of the three groups are lower than before the intervention,the difference is statistically significant(P<0.01).Comparison among groups:after the intervention,the difference of the three groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Comparing the score difference before and after the intervention,the score difference between test group 1 and test group 2 were higher than the control group,test group 2 was higher than that of test group 1,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.01).Conclusion:(1)Auricular acupuncture can improve the clinical symptoms,reduce the weight,waist circumference,and body fat rate of overweight or obese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,and improve their life quality.(2)The dialectical auricular acupuncture can better improve the patients' clinical symptoms,so as to improve the quality of life of the patients.
