OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effect of diabetes on the short-term complications and prognosis of patients with non-small cell lung cancer after resection, and to provide evidence for perioperative management of patients with lung cancer complicated with diabetes.METHODS: Clinical data of 100 patients with T2DM complicated with lung cancer and 107 patients with non-T2DM lung cancer from January 2016 to January 2019 were retrospectively analyzed, and postoperative complications and short-term prognosis were compared between the two groups.RESULTS: Compared with non-T2DM lung cancer group,T2DM lung cancer group had statistically significant differences in postoperative atelectasis(P=0.012),pulmonary infection(P=0.040)and other complications. The total number of complications in the T2DM lung cancer group(65/100,65.0%)was significantly higher than that in the non-T2DM lung cancer group(36/107,33.64%)(P < 0.001),and the postoperative hospitalization time in the T2DM lung cancer group was longer than that inthe non T2DM lung cancer group(P=0.007).CONCLUSIONS: For patients with lung cancer, the combination of T2DM will increase the incidence of postoperative complications, prolong the length of hospital stay and increase the economic burden of patients, which is not conducive to the postoperative recovery and prognosis of patients.
