Objective: To understand the status of nursing students' humanistic care ability,to and the educational needs of nursing students' humanistic care,to build a teaching modebased on Watson's scientific theory of caring,and to improve the humanistic care ability of nursing students.Methods: In this study,182 nursing students of a Vocational College(Five-year System)were selected as the research objects by cluster sampling.Nursing students were randomly divided into control group and experimental group.The control group adopted the traditional teaching mode,and the experimental group gave the teaching design based on Watson care theory.Before the experiment,general data of nursing students were collected by general data questionnaire.Before and after the intervention,the nursing expert Ngozi o nkongho's care ability scale was used to evaluate the care ability of nursing students,and semi-structured interview was used to understand the status and level of humanistic care ability of nursing students before and after the intervention.After teaching,teaching evaluation is carried out with Teaching Effect Evaluation Scale.The unified assessment and scoring standards are used to assess the operation skills and theoretical achievements.Results:(1)There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of personal factors(P>0.05).(2)Before the intervention,the humanistic care ability needs of higher vocational nursing students.Theme 1: nursing students have a vague understanding of the concept of humanistic care;Theme 2: nursing students have a strong demand for humanistic care education;Theme 3: nursing students do not know how to implement caring behavior.(3)The results showed that the cognitive score,courage score,patience score and total humanistic care ability score were no significant difference(t=0.174,1.693,0.052,0.913;P>0.05).(4)The results showed that the cognitive score,courage score and patience score was lower than that of the foreign norm,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01)and the total score of humanistic care ability were at a low level(<203.10).(5)The results showed that the humanistic care score were lower than the domestic norm with statistically significant(P<0.05).(6)The results showed that the cognitive score,courage score,patience score and total humanistic care score of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group(t=-8.263,-14.031,2.984,-12.391;P<0.05);(7)The results showed that the total score of humanistic care ability and the score of cognitive dimension in the intervention control group were significantly higher than those before teaching,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(8)Before and after the intervention,the total score of humanistic care and the comparison of all dimensions in the experimental group showed that the total score of humanistic care,cognitive ability,courage and patience in the experimental group before the intervention were significantly higher than those before the intervention,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);(9)The interview results of nursing students after the experiment extract the following topics:Theme 1: Humanistic care knowledge reserve of nursing students has been greatly improved;Theme 2: The consciousness of caring for nursing students is enhanced,and the ability of humanistic care is greatly improved.(10)The results showed that the scores of theoretical examination,humanistic care and operation skills of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.01);(11)Teaching effect evaluation.The results showed that the experimental group of nursing students were very satisfied with the teaching effect.Conclusion:(1)The humanistic care ability of the five-year higher vocational nursing students is lower,and they have urgency needs for the humanistic care.(2)Integrating Watson's caring theory into the teaching of basic nursing can effectively improve the humanistic caring ability of nursing students.
