Public stigma of mental disorder is defined as individual's negative attitude towards mental disorder, usually including negative cognition, negative emotional experience, and the discriminatory behavior that results from it,people with mental disorder are often stigmatized such as "neuropathy","lunatic",etc. We have found that the public stigma of mental disorder among medical and nursing students is higher than that of students in other majors, and those medical and nursing students who have received insufficient clinical training in psychiatry have more negative attitude. In addition,it is also a huge obstacle for them to enter the mental health field in the future. Therefore,it is very important to find out the most effective strategy to reduce the public stigma of mental disorder among medical and nursing students. In the present, many studies have discussed the effectiveness of education or contact strategy in reducing the public stigma of medical and nursing students' on people with mental disorder. However, due to the differences such as specific intervention content and implementation methods in each study,we are lack of a fixed operating paradigm, which may result in different results. What is the effectiveness between education/ contact/ education+ contact in reducing stigma about mental disorder and its moderators? How does the effects remain at different follow-up time? Both issues need to be addressed urgently.Above all,we intends to use meta analysis methods(Including inclusion and exclusion criteria, study retrieval, data extraction, feature coding of original study, information integration coding and methodological quality evaluation, etc.)for making reviews systematically all reference about education/ contact/ education+ contact in reducing stigma and its moderators, try to integrate existing findings and then reveal the most effective strategies to reduce the public stigma of mental disorder among medical and nursing students. The results show that:1.The result of Meta analysis in immediate test:(1)In terms of increasing the knowledge of medical and nursing students on people with mental disorder, the effect of education + contact strategy is significant, the effect of education strategy is not significant, and there is no significant difference between the two strategies;(2)In terms of improving the attitude or attribution of medical and nursing students on people with mental disorder, education strategy, contact strategy, and education + contact strategy have significant effects, and there are significant differences between three strategies. The intervention effects are as follows: education + contact strategy, contact strategy, education strategy;(3)In terms of improving the social distance or behavioral intention of medical and nursing students on people with mental disorder, education strategy, contact strategy, and education + contact strategy have significant effects, and there are significant differences between three strategies. The intervention effects are as follows: education + contact strategy, contact strategy, education strategy;(4)In terms of improving the use attitude or intention for help seeking of medical and nursing students on mental health services, and education + contact strategy have significant effects, education strategy has no significant effect, and there are significant differences between two strategies. The intervention effects are as follows: education + contact strategy, education strategy;(5)In terms of improving the actual behavior(including discrimination against people with mental disorder and actual use of mental health services)of medical and nursing students, education strategy, contact strategy, and education + contact strategy have significant effects, and there have no significant differences between three strategies.2.The result of Meta analysis in follow-up test::(1)In terms of increasing the knowledge of medical and nursing students on people with mental disorder,we have no enough original study to do meta analysis,so the long-term effects of intervention cannot be known;(2)In terms of improving the attitude or attribution of medical and nursing students on people with mental disorder, the improvement effect of the intervention strategy after 1 month was not significant;(3)In terms of improving the social distance or behavioral intention of medical and nursing students on people with mental disorder, the improvement effect of the intervention strategy after 1 month was significant;(4)In terms of improving the use attitude or intention for help seeking of medical and nursing students on mental health services, none of the original studies included had follow-up results,so the long-term effects of the intervention cannot be known;(5)In terms of improving the actual behavior(including discrimination against people with mental disorder and actual use of mental health services)of medical and nursing students,we have no enough original study to do meta analysis,so the long-term effects of intervention cannot be known.Based on the results, this study discusses the reasons behind each result and draws some useful educational inspirations based on it:(1)increase knowledge related with mental health and people with mental disorder;(2)help students to change their stigmatization attitudes and attribution;(3)pay attention to the education of students' behavior intentions and shorten social distance;(4)help students to change their attitudes and enhance their help-seeking intentions;(5)reduce the actual discrimination behaviors of students related to people with mental disorder.
