The Influence Of Undergraduate Nursing Students' Participation In Research And Creativity Quality On Their Future Employability

Objective First of all,this study adopts the method of semi-structured interview.To explore the relevant factors that can affect the future employability of undergraduate nursing students on the basis of the experience of clinical nurses and nursing educators and the needs of undergraduate nursing students.In order to provide a theoretical basis for further quantitative research;Secondly,a cross-sectional survey was used to analyze the current status and correlation of nursing students' participation in research,creativity quality and further employability,and further discussed the influencing factors of further employability,in order to provide reference for nursing education reform.Methods 1.Qualitative study: Objective sampling and snowball sampling were used to select nursing undergraduates,nursing teachers,clinical nurses and nursing manager who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria in Shandong Province from November 2018 to January 2019.Semi-structured interviews were conducted according to the interview outline.Nvivo 11.0 software and Colaizzi 7 analysis method were used to manage and extract the qualitative data of the interview.2.Quantitative study: from February 2019 to June 2019,377 undergraduate nursing students from sophomores to seniors in 5 universities in Shandong Province were selected as the research object by stratified sampling.The survey was conducted with general information questionnaire;the questionnaire of undergraduate's participation in research,the questionnaire of undergraduates' creative quality and the questionnaire of undergraduates' employability.SPSS23.0 software was used to conduct descriptive analysis,one-way analysis of variance,independent sample t-test,spearman correlation analysis and multiple stepwise regression analysis.Results 1.The results of semi-structured interview: through the collation and analysis of the interview data,three major themes affecting the employability of undergraduate nursing students were extracted.Creativity quality: including creativity consciousness,creativity ability and creativity personality;The ability to participate in scientific research: including inquiry thinking,critical thinking,planning execution capability and reflective learning;comprehensive ability: including problem-solving ability,leadership and management ability,interpersonal communication ability and basic skills.2.The total score of research participation of 377 undergraduate nursing students was(40.16±14.38),and the average score was(3.10±1.10).The total score of creativity consciousness was(141.73±18.41)and the average score was(3.68±0.47).The total score of creativity ability was(79.30±15.03),and the average score was(3.76±0.72).The total score of creativity personality was(68.79±12.56),and the average score was(3.81±0.70).The total score of employability was(116.57±21.66),and the average score was(3.76±0.70).There were differences in the scores of research participation,creativity quality and employability of nursing students in different grades.3.The results of Spearman correlation analysis: undergraduates' participation in research,creativity consciousness,creativity ability,creativity personality and employability were positively correlated(r=0.481-0.818,P<0.05).4.The results of multiple linear stepwise regression analysis: in the general data,there were significant differences in the scores of future employability of undergraduates nursing students among different ages,grades,achievement rankings and personal planning(P<0.05).The factors that influence the future employability of nursing undergraduates include the depth of participation in scientific research,creativity learning ability,creativity practical ability,truth-seeking,smart and unique,which could jointly explained 74.6% of the future employability of nursing undergraduates.(F = 222.052,P<0.05).Conclusion 1.The scores of scientific research participation of undergraduate nursing students are at a medium level,the scores of future employability and creative quality are at a medium to high level,and the scores of senior grades were better than those of lower grades.It shows that the scientific research participation ability,creative quality and future employability skills of junior nursing undergraduates still need to be improved.2.The future employability of undergraduate nursing students is affected by a variety of factors,including the depth of participation in research,creative learning ability,creative practical ability,truth-seeking,smart and unique.The study suggests that nursing educators should provide an adequate and sustainable research and education system for undergraduate nursing students and cultivate their creative quality so as to improve the future employability skills.
