Objective:1.To construct the evaluation index system of employability for nursingundergraduates and test its reliability and validity.2.To investigate the level of employability for nursing undergraduates in Fujian andanalyze its influencing factors by clinical empirical study.Methods:This research included two parts.The first part was divided into two stages. In stage1, the evaluation index systemof employability for nursing undergraduates was constructed by means of literaturereview and Delphi method. A total of26nursing experts participated in the two-roundconsultation by Delphi method. In stage2,217nursing undergraduates wereinvestigated by a scale, which had been developed on the basis of the evaluation indexsystem of employability for nursing undergraduates.50among them werereinvestigated3weeks later. The Internal consistency reliability and retest reliabilitywere calculated by Cronbach’s α and product moment correlation coefficientrespectively. Experts content validity and correlational analysis methods were used totest content validity, which construct calidity was determined by exploratory factoranalysis.The second part is about clinical empirical study. A total of620nursingundergraduates from3schools in Fujian were investigated with the EmployabilityEvaluation Scale and a questionnaire about general information, both of which wereself-designed. General information contained gender, permanent residence, voluntarychoices for nursing, students cadres, practice environment, guidance from clinicalteacher, initiative in study, self-assessment, resident who was engaged in nursing,whether sign contract with units and evaluation to units. Independent sample t test, one-way ANOVA and multivariate regression analysis were adopted to describe statusand analyze influential factors.Results:1.The evaluation index system of employability for nursing undergraduates included4first-level indexes,13second-level indexes and82third-level items. All the indexweights were set as well.89.7%and100%of the issued questionnaires weresuccessfully collected respectively in the two-round consultation. The specialistauthority coefficient was0.869, and the coordination coefficients for two-roundconsultation were0.205and0.212respectively. Both had differences(P<0.01).2.The evaluation scale with4dimensions was shaped, including12second-levelindexes and67items.①Content validity: The item content validity index (I-CVI) was0.885~1.000、0.923~1.000respectively. In terms of the scale content validity index(S-CVI),unanimity of S-CVI was0.888、0.931,while average of S-CVI reached0.993and0.997. It showed that each dimension significantly associated with totaldimensions and different dimension.②Construct validity: The KMO of4dimensionswas0.919、0.901、0.936、0.865. These4dimensions extracted2、3、6、1factorsaccordingly, which cumulatively explained53.739%、58.255%、64.978%、56.322%of the variances in sequence. The result of factor analysis showed that factor loadingquantity of all the items was0.496~0.850, and communality was0.324~0.794.③Reliability:The Cronbach’s α was0.973, and that of each dimension wasfrom0.893to0.957. The retest reliability was0.740.3.The overall score of employability was68.10±8.99, and the dimension scores indescending order were personal qualities (23.41±4.06), general skills (11.47±1.71),subject understanding (22.45±3.31) and key skills (10.77±1.70).4. The result of influencing factor analysis:①Single factor analysis showed that thescores of employability in different voluntary choices for nursing, practiceenvironment, guidance from clinical teacher, initiative in study, self-assessment,evaluation to units from nursing undergraduates who had signed, were statisticallydifferences(P<0.05). But different gender, permanent residence, students cadres,resident who was engaged in nursing, whether sign contract with units had no differences(P>0.05).②Theregression equation showed statistically significantdifferences (F=34.848,P=0.000) on multiple regression analysis. Initiative in study,self-assessment and practice environment were shown as the influencing factors, withdetermination coefficient (R2)18.7%for all. Initiative in study forecast the most inthree.Conclusions:1.The evaluation index system of employability constructed is more comprehensiveand better structured which can reflect the theme of the study.The scale showsacceptable reliability and validity. It could be used to evaluate the employability fornursing undergraduates.2.The employability for nursing undergraduates in Fujian Province belongs tosuperior middling. In order to improve employability for nursing undergraduates,effective measures should be taken to arise studying initiative, encourage activeself-assessment and create a good practice environment.
