Firstly, with the method of theory-based study, the scientific evidence of the structure and categorization of nursing's knowledge were explored. Then a systematic and scientific knowledge framework of undergraduate nursing education consisting of eight modules was proposed. According to the training aims of undergraduate nursing education, the specific knowledge of the modules were proposed, and Essential Requirements of Undergraduate Nursing Education was established. With the guidance of the higher education bureau, Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, a questionnaire about the attitude towards Essential Requirements was applied. 20 nursing colleges in China that represent different regions, different teaching levels and teaching experiences participated in this study. The data was processed and analyzed bySPSS13.0. And Essential Requirements was emended on the basis ofexperts'opinions. Now the second draft has been accomplished. Finally, theissues of the relationship among Essential Requirements and curriculumreform and implementation in nursing education, and teacher's control inteaching process, as well as characteristics of college's development werediscussed.
