Objective:By exploring the effects of pre-pregnancy body mass index and weight gain during pregnancy on the duration of labor,we learned about the characteristics of labor duration on the different pre-pregnancy body mass index and the women's weight gain during pregnancy, providing a basis for better guidance and intervention during labor. Methods: From January and December 2018,the primipara who has single live births,non-induced parturition, and no labor analgesia were selected at the General Hospital of Northern Theater Command Peace branch, and the patient information and duration of labor was collected and recorded by the electronic medical record system of hospital.According to whether the body mass index before pregnancy and the weight gain during pregnancy complies with the IOM recommendations, two methods were used for grouping, and the differences in duration of labor were analyzed in groups. At the same time, all samples were conducted the correlation analysis on pre-pregnancy body mass index, weight gain during pregnancy, duration of labor, birth weight of the newborn and other indicators.Data collection was performed by using Excel 2007,and the data was analyzed by using SPSS 23.0 software. The analysis methods were included one-way analysis of variance,LSD analysis, rank sum test, and spearmen correlation test. Results: According to the pre-pregnancy BMI,there were divided into 123 cases in emaciation group,376 cases in normal weight group, and 38 cases in overweight and obesity group. There was no significant difference in the first, second and total duration of labor among the groups(P> 0.05).According to whether the weight gain during pregnancy met the IOM standard,it was divided into 76 cases in lower range group,215 cases in the standard range group,246 cases in the over-high range group, and the first duration of labor and total duration of labor in the over-high range group were significantly longer than those of the standard range group, with the statistically significant difference(P <0.05 in all cases). The weight gain during pregnancy and the birth weight of the newborn were positively correlated with the first duration of labor(P <0.05 and r > 0 in all cases),and the birth weight of the newborn, the first duration of labor and the second duration of labor were shown as positive correlation(P <0.05 and r > 0 in all cases),weight gain during pregnancy, birth weight of the newborn, the first and second labor duration were positively correlated with total labor duration to birth(P <0.05 and r > 0 in all cases). Conclusion: 1.There was no correlation between pre-pregnancy body mass index and labor time.2.The more weight gain during pregnancy, the longer the total labor duration, and the main time increases in the first labor duration.3.The increase of pre-pregnancy body mass index and weight gain during pregnancy will increase the birth weight of newborn. The greater the birth weight of a newborn, the longer the first and second labor duration, and the longer the total labor duration.
