| Background:Gestational weight gain (GWG) is one of most important indexes that measure the health of pregnant woman, too much or too less GWG will lead to bad outcomes of both the mother and the child. Too much GWG during pregnancy is associated with postpartum weight retention, cesarean delivery and macrosomia. Less than the recommended amount of GWG increases the risk for low birth weight, premature delivery. Institute of Medicine (IOM) released and revised guidelines for weight gain during pregnancy in 1990 and 2009. Since 1990, lots of hospital use the guideline to advice weight gain during pregnancy of Chinese women. Because of different in racial, culture and concept of antenatal care, it is not appropriate to use guideline of IOM. This study detected ideal GWG in Chinese pregnant in all categories of pre-pregnant BMI to decrease risk of unhealthy outcomes of mother and child. Objective:To characterize the distribution of maternal weight gain in Chinese women, to recommend target weight gains from three different calculate ways and evaluate the recommended total weight gain.Results:1. In the study, the mean GWG of less than 25 years old,25 to 34 years old, more than 35 years old were16.62±4.72kg,15.19±4.52kg,12.08±4.24kg. There were differences in age and education about GWG.2. Smoking or not haven’t effect on GWG, GWG of smoking pregnant was 18.40±4.72kg, and else was 15.52±4.66kg. We didn’t found associations between exercise, insomnia and alcohol drinking either.3. We do not found gravidity, parity, delivery way have association with GWG, and the pregnant who delivery LBW and normal weight infant and macrosomia had different GWG.4. The GWG of underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese women was 16.40±4.33kgã€15.79±4.50kgã€14.01±5.14kg and 11.46±4.70kg. The weight of infants of underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese women was 3.24±0.33kg〠3.36±0.42kgã€3.47±0.47kg and 3.57±0.50kg (P<0.01).5. Three calculate ways was used in study, the first result was that total weight gain was 13.0 to 19.5kgã€12.5 to 18.5kg and 10.0 to 16.5kg for women of low(BMI<18.5), moderate(BMI:18.5 to 23.9), overweight (BMI>24).The second result was 12 to 18kg,8 to 14kg and 10 to 14kg of underweight, moderate and overweight women. The result of third method was 15.0 to 19.5kg,15.3 to 19.0kg and 11.0 to 16.0kg. Conclusion:The GWG of different age, education were different; Smoking will have effects on GWG; The recommended total weight gain was 12 to 18kg,11.5 to 14kg and 10 to 14kg for women who were underweight, normal, overweight pregnant. |
