Objective:To understand the status of interpersonal conflict management among nurses in emergency department and analyze its influencing factors,so as to provide reference and basis for improving the interpersonal conflict management ability of nurses in emergency department.Methods:Adopt cross-sectional survey method.A total of 376 emergency department nurses in 25 secondary and tertiary hospitals in Northeast Sichuan province were investigated by general information questionnaire,the Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory-?,questionnaire of emotion managemen of nurses,Interpersonal Reactivity Index for China and work-family support scale.The statistical methods included descriptive statistical analysis,t test,single factor analyse of variance,person correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis,using sequential inspection method to mediation testing.Results:1.The patients and their families are the subjects of most interpersonal conflicts in the work of emergency nurses,the items in all dimensions of interpersonal conflict management from high to low were divided into avoidance(3.69±0.61),integration(3.55±0.68),concession(3.09±0.67)and domination(2.74±0.70).2.There were statistically significant in different gender,age,marital status,hospital level,academic,length of working time,length of working time in emergency department,professional title,degree of love for nursing,character,whether receiving any training in interpersonal communication,average number of training sessions in interpersonal communication per year and whether suffering from violence at work of interpersonal conflict management styles among emergency nurses(P<0.05).3.The total score of emotional management of the emergency nurses was(47.81±6.56),the overall scoring rate is 66%.The scores of emotional awareness,the emotional using dimension,the emotional adjustment dimension,the emotional expression were(13.64±2.10),(10.70±1.49),(7.94±1.55)and(15.52±2.86);These overall scoring rates are 68%?67%?66%and 65%.4.The total score of empathy of emergency nurses was(50.68±10.77),including the average scores of items in choice of viewpoint dimension,sympathy dimension,imagination dimension and personal pain dimension are(2.53±0.69),(2.43±0.72),(2.19±0.68)and(2.06±0.75).5.The total score of work-family support of emergency nurses was(92.64±25.88),including the average scores of items in instrumental aid dimension,emotional support dimension,support from leader dimension and organizational support dimension are(3.46±1.02),(3.39±0.99),(2.99±0.99)and(2.86±0.95).6.There were positive correlation between the integration dimension of interpersonal conflict management and emotional management,work-family support and their each dimension among emergency nurses;There were positive correlation between the integration dimension of interpersonal conflict management and the total score of empathy,the choice of viewpoint dimension,the imagination dimension and the sympathy dimension;There were positive correlation between the concession dimension,emotional management and emotional awareness and emotional expression dimension;There were positive correlation between the concession dimension and the total score of empathy,the choice of viewpoint dimension;There were positive correlation between the concession dimension and the total score of work-family support,the organizational support and the support from leader;There was a negative correlation between avoidance dimension and the total score of emotional management,emotional awareness dimension,emotional expression dimension and emotional adjustment dimension dimension;There was a negative correlation between avoidance dimension and the total score of empathy,the imagination dimension and the sympathy dimension;There was a negative correlation between avoidance dimension and the total score of work-family support and the support from leader dimension;There was a negative correlation between domination dimension and emotional adjustment dimension;There was a positive correlation between domination dimension and the personal pain dimension.7.Analysis of multiple regression showed the main factors of influencing the adoption of an integrated approach include degree of love for nursing,emotional management and abilities of empathy.The main factors of influencing adoption of an avoidance approach include whether suffering from violence at work and abilities of empathy.The main factors of influencing the adoption of an concession approach include hospital level,degree of love for nursing and whether suffering from violence at work.The main factors of influencing the adoption of an domination approach include gender and whether suffering from violence at work.8.The empathy ability had a complete mediating effect between work-family support and the avoidance style,and the empathy ability had a partial mediating effect between work-family support and integration style,which accounted for 35%of the total mediating effect.The emotion management had a partial mediating effect between work-family support and integration style,which accounted for 57.6%of the total mediating effect.Conclusions:1.The conflict among emergency nurses and patients is the major conflict,The most common conflict management method used by emergency nurses was passive avoidance,and the least used was domination.2.Emotional management and empathy ability of the emergency nurses are in the middle level or above,which need to be further improved.3.Emergency nurses receive a lower level of support from work than they do from family.4.The main factors influencing emergency nurses on adopting different interpersonal conflict management include gender,hospital level,degree of love for nursing and whether suffering from violence at work,emotional management and the ability of empathy.5.Abilities of empathy play a total mediating role in work-family support and avoidance style,It plays a partial mediating role in work-family support and integrated style;Emotion management plays a partial mediating role in work-family support and integrated style.6.Nursing managers can improve emergency nurses' abilities of conflict management by improving their emotional management abilities,empathy abilities,giving more policy,spirit and other aspects of support,and encouraging nurses to obtain more support from their families.
