BackgroundAt the end of the 20th century,China entered an aging society.The surge in the elderly population is at the heart of many social problems,and coping with aging has become a national strategy."Active aging" and "healthy aging" are the ways to promote the construction of a healthy China.Based on the characteristics of the elderly population age.increased vulnerability of the body,and the decline of anti-stress ability,the resulting elderly frailty is gradually paid attention by researchers.Frailty will increase the incidence of various adverse health outcomes such as the disability rate,hospitalization rate,and mortality rate of the elderly,affecting their living conditions and quality of life in many ways,and thus affecting life satisfaction.Therefore,this study is of great significance to explore the relationship between frailty and life satisfactionObjectivesThis study aims to find out the current frailty status of the elderly in Shandong Province,and fully understand the current situation of life satisfaction of the elderly and analyze its influencing factors.To explore the multiple mediating role of social support and general self-efficacy between elderly frailty and life satisfaction,to provide a theoretical basis for the introduction of policies and measures in related departments,and to reduce the level of frailty of the elderly and improve life satisfactionMethodsThe data was from the National Natural Science Foundation of China(71673169)A multi-stage stratified random sampling method was used to select 7070 elderly people in 18 communities and 18 villages in Shandong Province.The research contents included the basic demographic characteristics,healthy living characteristics,basic economic characteristics,social support status,general self-efficacy,life satisfaction and other relevant information of the research subjects.The research tools included self-made questionnaires and scale questionnaires.SPSS 24.0 was used to perform descriptive statistics,t-test,analysis of variance,and linear regression of the data.Amos 21.0 was used to establish an intermediary model.The Bootstrap method was used to repeatedly sample 2,000 tests to test the multi-mediating effects of social support and general self-efficacy between frailty and life satisfactionResultsThis study found that the elderly who are urban,frailty,single,not exercising,the greater the availability of health care services,have lower life satisfaction,irregular meals of elderly(P<0.05);the elderly who are older,unemployed,have not undergone a recent physical examination,have higher personal income,have no debt,and have a high degree of psychological flexibility have higher life satisfaction(P<0.05).There were significant differences between weakness and life satisfaction(rs=-0.327,P<0.001),social support(rs1=0.229,rs2=0.246,P<0.001),and general self-efficacy(rs=-0.369,P<0.00]).There were significant correlations between life satisfaction and social support(rsl=-0.525,rs2=-0.517,P<0.001)and general self-efficacy(rs=0.273,P<0.001).There were significant correlation between social support and general self-efficacy(rs1=-0.203,rs2=-0.22 P<0.001).Frailty could affect general self-efficacy through social support,and then afect life satisfaction.The total effect value is-0.201.ConclusionThere is a significant negative relationship between the elderly's frailty and life satisfaction in Shandong Province.Social support and general self-efficacy play a chain intermediary role.Frailty could affect life satisfaction through social support,it could also affect life satisfaction through general self-efficacy,and it could also directly affect life satisfaction.In order to improve the life satisfaction of the elderly,the following suggestions are proposed:(1)The family and society should strengthen the economic,emotional and living support for the elderly,pay more attention to the spiritual life of the elderly,and build a good social environment of filial piety,respect for the elderly,and care for the elderly;(2)Actively publicize the elderly's knowledge of healthy living in the community,provide diversified social and psychological care services for the elderly population,improve the mental health of the elderly,increase the elderly's connection with the community and society,and increase social support;(3)To provide more old-age security,and to build and improve the system for providing services for the elderly.The government and related departments should strengthen the construction of medical and health service infrastructure and strengthen spiritual support.
