Objectivesl. To translate the Emotional Inhibition Scale(EIS)into Chinese and analyze it's reliability and validity in the evaluation of emotional inhibition in cancer patients,so as to provide an effective tool for measuring the level of emotional inhibition and evaluating the effects of emotional disclosure interventions.2.Using Chinese version of the EIS to investigate the status of emotional inhibition in cancer patients and analyze its influencing factors.Methods1.After being authorized by E-mail,the Chinese version of EIS was preliminary formed through translation, back translation,cross-cultural adaption and pilot test based on Brislin translation model. Then the internal consistency reliability, retest reliability, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, index validity, content validity and known-group validity were evaluated, and finally the revised Chinese version of EIS was formed.2.Totally 302 cancer patients at a tertiary hospital in Guangdong Province that were conveniently collected were investigated using general information questions,Chinese version of EIS and Chinese version of Toronto Alexithymia scale-20(The Toronto Alexithymia Scale,TAS-20)from Janurary to May 2019.The level of emotional inhibition in in different cancer patients were compared using one-way analysis of variance, rank sum test and independent sample t-test.Multivariate linear regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of emotional inhibition in cancer patients.Results1.The Chinese version of EIS consisted of 14 items and four factors(verbal inhibition,self-control,disguise of feelings, timidity),which explained 65.58%of variance of total scale. The Cronbach's a coefficient of EIS was 0.717 for the total scale and of each dimension was 0.882,0.749,0.602,0.784,respectly.In confirmatory factor analysis, the identified four-factor model demonstrated good fit(?2=94.922,X2/df=1.438,GFI=0.93,AGFI=0.903,SRMR=0.066,RMSEA=0.047,TLI=0.918,IFI=0.943,CFI=0.940).The range of I-CVI was 0.833?1.00.The S-CVI/average was 0.933.The Chinese version of EIS was positively correlated with TAS-20(r=0.322,P<0.001)2.The totoal mean score of EIS was(28.51±6.00),the mean score of four factors were:self-control was(13.92±6.42),disguise of feelings was(14.72±6.80);verbal inhibition was(28.64±12.13),and the timidity was(5.18±2.79).The results of multivariate linear regression indicated that gender, the place of residence, the staging of cancer and type of cancer were the important influencing factors of emotional inhibition in cancer patients.Conclusions1.The Chinese version of EIS demonstrated acceptable reliability and validity. It could be a useful measure to assess the level of emotional inhibition and the effects of emotional disclosure interventions.2.The level of emotional inhibition and alexithymia were moderate average incancer patients.Gender, the place of residence and the staging of cancer are important influencing factors of emotional inhibition in cancer patients. To promote the expression of negative emotion and physical and mental recovery, personalized intervention should be taken by clinical medical staff in cancer patients with different characteristics.
