Objective:The knee osteoarthritis is a common disabling knee joint disease, which has a high prevalence among the elderly. It is an important health problem in the world's aging population and has attracted widespread attention from many scholars. The long-term chronic course of patients with knee osteoarthritis easily affects the patient's mood, causing the patient to have negative psychological emotions such as sorrowful mood, pessimism, inferiority and even depression. The purpose of this project is to study whether there is a correlation between knee arthritis and depression in patients, and whether the two affect and promote each other, providing a reference for the diagnosis and treatment of knee osteoarthritis patients. Methods:From 2016 to 2019,2277 patients with osteoarthritis diagnosed in the Outpatient Department of Osteoarthritis of Dalian Central Hospital were selected, including 724 males(31.80%)and 1553 females(68.20%).The patients were divided into four groups according to the Kellgren–Lawrence imaging X-ray staging method, and the patients were investigated and registered with the WOMAC scale score,AKSS clinical scale score,AKSS functional scale score and HAMD scale score. After collecting and statisticing the data,SPSS17.0 was used for statistical analysis.Chi-square analysis was used to compare the differences in the sex composition of patients in different stages. The rest of the measurement data are descriptive statistical analysis. If the data follow a normal distribution and meet the homogeneity of variance,one-way analysis of variance is used for statistical analysis. If the data does not obey the normal distribution and cannot simultaneously meet the homogeneity of variance,a non-parametric rank sum test is used for statistical analysis.Bivariate correlation analysis and multiple linear regression statistics were used to test the correlation between the HAMD scale scores and the age,gender,Kellgren-Lawrence stage, and scale scores of each group of patients. Results: The ?~2 test was used to evaluate whether there was a difference in the gender composition of patients in different stages, and the results showed no significant statistical difference(P <0.05).The clinical scores of AKSS in each stage were statistically averaged as follows, stage I: 90.01 ± 8.41;Stage II: 79.98 ± 10.93;Stage III: 71.78 ± 13.64;Stage IV: 54.18 ± 12.58,the results showed that there was a significant statistical difference between any two periods(P <0.05).The AKSS function scores of patients in each stage were statistically averaged as follows, stage I: 99.94 ±0.56;stage II: 84.98 ± 13.80;stage III: 69.06 ± 16.59;stage IV: 48.19 ± 16.77,the results showed that there were significant statistical differences between any two periods(P <0.05).The WOMAC scale scores of patients in each stage were calculated, and the average values are as follows.Stage I: 28.69 ± 19.22;Stage II: 49.43 ± 22.69;Stage III: 70.13 ± 24.84;Stage IV: 107.79 ± 24.39,There were significant statistical differences in WOMAC scale scores(P <0.05).The HAMD scale scores of patients in each stage were calculated, and the average values were as follows, stage I: 4.89 ± 3.42;stage II: 7.65 ± 4.20;stage III: 9.05 ± 5.03;stage IV: 12.35 ± 5.41,the results are shown there were significant statistical differences between any two periods(P<0.05).The results of bivariate correlation analysis showed that there was no significant correlation between the patient's gender and the score of the HAMD scale(P> 0.05),but there was a correlation between other factors(age, stage, and related scale scores)and the score of the HAMD scale(P <0.05).The linear regression model suggested that the patient's depression status was mainly affected by its subjective factors. Conclusion: There is a correlation between the progress of the knee osteoarthritis and the state of depression. The progress of the knee osteoarthritis will aggravate the patient's depression state.Conversely, the patient's depression state can also aggravate the symptoms of osteoarthritis patients and affect the clinical efficacy of the patients.
