Background:As we do more research about the osteoarthritis of the knee, anotherproblem “depression” which accompany this chronic disease graduallyattract clinicians to pay great attention and thinking. And recent studieshave reported that the depression have great relation with the severity ofpain of knee. The symptom reported by patients with osteoarthritis ofknee is closely related with the with the patient’s mental state in somesenses, one of the most common is depression. Because our county ownslarge population (The Han shares the largest proportion)and the quantityof outpatient is so large, the part of the patient’s psychological changescan be easily overlooked. We hope we can get the information providedto us when the outpatient visits the clinic and reveal the clinicalcharacteristics of this group. Objective:Through the survey about outpatient’s clinical symptoms of kneeosteoarthritis and depression within the Han population in Jilin province,we can find the clinical characteristics of this group, and we explorereasonable physical and psychological treatment modalities for this groupof people with knee osteoarthritis.Material and Methods:The integrity data of127cases of simple knee osteoarthritis iscollected, which meet the inclusive and exclusive criteria. All outpatientsare immediately given HSS score in the clinic, and they are given theWOMAC score、 BDI score and PAS score through follow-up bytelephone two weeks later. We give the standing AP and lateral X-ray in the clinic, and record the outpatient’s basic information and the number ofcomorbidity. We use the SPSS18.0to evaluate correlation between BDIscore and risk factors of knee osteoarthritis, and give independentsamples T-test in different grades about K/L、the number of comorbidityaround BDI score.Results:(1)The correlation coefficient (r) between BDI score and HSS score、WOMAC score are-0.733(p=0.000)、0.627(p=0.000).(2)There issignificantly different between the combination of grade1and grade2and the combination of grade3and grade4.(3)The higher the level ofeducation the higher HSS score and the lower BDI score、WOMACscore.(4)The correlation efficient(r)between BDI score and pain、function in HSS score are-0.490、-0.557,for WOMAC score thecorrelation efficient is0.442、0.574.(5) As for the number ofcomorbidity、age、sex、time of KOA、BMI、PAS score, they have nosignificant correlation to compare with BDI score.Conclusion:(1)The group of outpatients who visit our clinic within the Hanpopulation in Jilin province are confirmative to have the depression. Thesymptoms are not more severe than community patients, but thedepression is more severe than community patients.(2) The severity of clinical symptoms of knee osteoarthritis reportedby outpatients and the severity of the depression show significant positivecorrelation.(3) Outpatients with knee osteoarthritis who receive the higher levelof education, the lighter the severity of symptoms and depression.(4) The depression of knee osteoarthritis has a significant correlation with pain and function, and the correlation efficient of function is higherthan that of pain.
