Analysis On Disability Rates And Its Relative Factors Among Patients With Stroke In The Main Part Of Chengdu City

Objective: To study the causes of disability among patients with stroke and look for measures to lower the disability rate through investigating the disability status of patients with stroke in Chengdu and analyzing the relative factors.Methods: From June 2017 to June 2018,we selected 660 patients with stroke from 31 communities in the main part of Chengdu(Jinjiang,Qingyang,Jinniu,Wuhou,Chenghua,Xindu,Pidu,Wenjiang,Shuangliu,Longquanyi and Qingbaijiang District)through stratified sampling method.They took our questionnaire which included a survey of their personal information(Basic information: Name,Gender,Age,Marital Status,Education,Exercise Frequency before suffering stroke,Caretakers,BMI;Heath Condition:Having High Blood Pressure or not,times of stroke,type of stroke.Rehabilitation situation: Starting date of the Rehabilitation therapy;Time of Therapy)and MBI which is used to evaluate the disability grade.Patient with an assessment of MBI<95 was considered as disability in this article.Most of the patients finished the questionnaire on-site while the rest of them were surveyed at their home.SPSS23.0 software was used for data analysis.Measurement data was analyzed using?X±S while the enumeration data was described in percentage.We analyzed the possible factors causing disabilityamong patients with stroke by Chi-square test,which used binary logistic regression analysis.The effective factors were regarded as covariant and disability status as dependent variable.The independent factors causing disability were found out with a statistical significance of P<0.05.Results:A total of 675 questionnaires were completed among which 660 were effective.252 patients with stroke were found disabled.The disability rate reached38.18%.After analyzing the 660 samples,we found that the following factors had no statistical significance(P>0.05): Education,Gender,Exercise frequency before suffering stroke and the rest of the factors we investigated had statistical significance: Marital status(P=0.021),Age(P=0.000),High Blood Pressure(P=0.001),Caretakers(P=0.041),Times of stroke(P=0.039),Type of stroke(P=0.029),Starting date of the Rehabilitation therapy(P=0.024),Time of Therapy(P=0.013),BMI(P=0.044).In conclusion,the factors causing disability among patients with stroke in Chengdu were as follows: Marital status,Age,High Blood Pressure,Caretakers,Times of stroke,Type of stroke,Starting date of the Rehabilitation therapy,Time of Therapy and BMI.With disability status being dependent variable and effective factors being covariant,we analyzed the data by binary logistic regression.It was found that Marital Status(P=0.545),Caretakers(P=0.187),Type of Stroke(P=0.172),Times of Stroke(P=0.122)were all non-independently influential factors(P > 0.05)while Age(P=0.001),High Blood Pressure(P=0.011),Starting date of the Rehabilitation therapy(P=0.000),Time of Therapy(P=0.030),BMI(P=0.018)wereindependently influential factors(P<0.05).Conclusion:The disability rate is relatively high in the main city of Chengdu and the following factors are regarded as independently affecting reasons causing disability among patients with stroke in Chengdu: Age,High Blood Pressure,Starting date of the Rehabilitation therapy,Time of Therapy and BMI.Therefore,community hospital and community-based rehabilitation play a vital role in lowering the disability rate.Improving the community-based rehabilitation situation is still far-reaching.More efforts should be taken to speed up the development of community-based rehabilitation especially in Chengdu.
