Objective:To investigate the effect of preoperative visits by ICU nurses on the incidence of ICU acquired delirium in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass surgery. Methods:A convenient sampling method was used to select 69 patients who underwent cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB)cardiac surgery at a first class hospital in Shanxi Pr ovince from January 2019 to August 2019.Preoperative visiting group(34 cases)an d observation group(35 cases). The Preoperative visiting group was set to visited b y ICU nurses one day before the surgery based on the"ICU Nurses Preoperative V isiting Content Standards".Preoperative visits were performed depending on the prot ocol. The observation group do not receive ICU nurses preoperative visiting. Both groups of patients were transferred to the ICU after surgery.According to the The Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit(CAM-ICU),the patients were evaluated for ICU-acquired delirium. The incidence of ICU-acquired delirium, the duration of mechanical ventilation, and the length of ICU hospitalization were compared between the two groups.Results:1.There was no significant difference in the length of mechanical ventilation andthe length of ICU hospitalization between the two groups(both P>0.05).2.8 cases of ICU acquired delirium occurred in the Preoperative visiting group, accounting for 23.5%;15 cases of ICU acquired delirium occurred in the observationgroup, accounting for 42.8%.The difference in the incidence of ICU acquired deliriumbetween the two groups was statistically significant(x~2=7.66,P<0.05).3.There was no significant difference in the length of mechanical ventilation and thelength of ICU hospital stay between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:By implementing the ICU nurse preoperative visit plan formulated according to the?ICU nurse preoperative visit content standard?,the incidence of ICU acquired delirium can be reduced in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass surgery.
