Objective:To ob the clinical effect of wrist traction brace(WTB)in the treatment of AO Type C3 distal radius fracture(DRF).Methods:From January 1,2018 to January 1,2019,72 patients with extended distal radius fracture(AO type C3)who underwent manipulativereduction and met functional reduction criteria were selected and randomly divided into experimental group and control group according to inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria.The experimental group was treated with WTB combined with splint external fixation,while the control group was treated with splint external fixation alone.Two groups of patients were followed up for 2 weeks,4 weeks,6 weeks,8 weeks and 12 weeks after manipulative reduction,and X-rayphotographs were reexamined.The basic data of the patients included age,sex,follow-up time,height of radial styloid process,palmar inclination and ulnar deviation before and after treatment.The height of radial styloid process,palmar inclination and ulnar deviation and wrist joint function were recorded and compared between the two groups.Results:A total of 72 patients were enrolled in this study,including 36 in the experimental group and 36 in the control group.In the experimental group,there were 15 males and 21 females,with an average age of 51.61±2.354y and an average follow-up time of 12.11±0.131w.Beforereduction,palmar inclination,ulnar deviation and radius styloid process height were-12.47±0.185°?14.53±0.146°?5.819±0.1338mm.After reduction,palmar inclination,ulnar deviation and radius styloid process height were 10.67±0.199°?24.03±0.162°?10.994±0.1357mm.In the control group,there were 14 males and 22 females,with an average age of 54.44+2.177y and an average follow-up time of 12.03±0.129w.Before reduction,palmar inclination,ulnar deviation and radius styloid process height were-12.28±0.185°?14.50±0.162°?5.872±0.1612mm.After reduction,palmar inclination,ulnar deviation and radius styloid process height were 10.72±0.206°?23.97±0.152°?10.936±0.1389mm.There was no significant difference in age,sex,bleeding volume,operation time,follow-up time and baseline data of radius styloid process height,palm inclination and ulnar deviation before and after treatment between the two groups(P>0.05).The mean+standard deviation of palm inclination,ulnar deviation and radius styloid process height at the last follow-up in the experimental group were 10.56±0.205°?23.83±0.167°?10.981±0.1257mm,respectively,while the mean+standard deviation of the above-mentioned indexes in the control group werel0.72±0.206°?23.97±0.152°?10.936±0.1389mm,respectively.There was no statistical difference between the two groups(p>0.05).)In wrist function,the excellent and good rate of the experimental group was 91.67%,while that of the control group was 63.89%.There was a significant difference between the two groups(p<0.05).Conclusion:By comparing the palmar inclination,ulnar deviation,radius styloid process height and wrist joint function in clinic,we conclude that WTB combined with splint external fixation is better than splint external fixation alone in the treatment of DRF(AO type C3).
