Objective: Type 2 diabetes mellitus can cause cardiac systolic and diastolic dysfunction and atherosclerosis.Carotid intima-media thickness is a common index to evaluate atherosclerosis. In this study,we used ultrasound to explore the correlation between carotid intima-media thickness and left ventricular function in patients with type 2diabetes mellitus,so as to help predict the damage of heart function in patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods: Taking 141 inpatients with a clear diagnosis of type 2 diabetes from October2018 to January 2020 in our hospital as the research object. The carotid intima media thickness(CIMT)was measured on the left and right sides of the patients with highfrequency linear array probe, three times for each measurement, and then the average value was taken. Finally, the data of the larger side of the left and right sides were recorded.According to the measured values of the intima media thickness, the patients were divided into three groups: group A(CIMT < 0.9 mm),group B(0.9 mm ? CIMT< 1.5 mm)and group C(CIMT ? 1.5 mm).Two dimensional heart probe was used to measure ejection fraction EF,early diastolic fast filling e peak, late diastolic filling a peak and early diastolic velocity e 'of mitral annulus, which can reflect the parameters of left ventricular diastolic function while collecting general information of all the subjects at the same time.Another 80 healthy subjects in the same period were collected as the control group.Statistical analysis was performed using SPASS 17.0.Results:(1)The difference in LAD,E/e',e' between the diabetes group and the control group was considered statistically significant(P < 0.01),and the difference in EF and E was considered statistically significant(P < 0.05);(2)The difference in age, gender,BMI,SBP and DBP among the A,B and C groups was considered no statistically significant(P > 0.05);(3)The difference in LAD,EF,LVmass,E/e' and e' among the A,B and C groups was considered statistically significant(P < 0.05);(4)E/e' was positively correlated with age, gender,,LAD,A,CIMT,and negatively correlated with e',which was considered statistically significant(P < 0.05);(5)EF was negatively correlated with age,BMI,LAD,LVESD,LVEDD,and CIMT,and positively correlated with E and e'.The difference was considered statistically significant(P <0.05);(6)Multiple linear regression analysis: CIMT,age and gender independently affected left ventricular diastolic function, and age independently affected left ventricular systolic function. Conclusions: CIMT in patients with type 2 diabetes has a linear positive correlation with E/e '.CIMT can be used as an independent predictor of diastolic dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
