ObjectivePerimenopausal syndrome(PMS)is one of the common diseases affecting the quality of life of middle-aged and elderly women. In this study,Thunder-Fire moxibustion and moxibustion with moxa stick were employed to treat patients suffered from PMS with Kidney Yang deficiency,to compare the clinical efficacy of these two treatment, objectively evaluating the clinical efficacy of the Thunder-Fire moxibustion on PMS with Kidney Yang deficiency, and the feasibility as well as potential problems, and to provide a basis for clinical treatment.MethodsIn this study,60 patients with PMS who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled, and were divided equally into the experimental group and thecontrol group by checking the random number table,30 patients in each group. The same acupuncture points were stimulated in the two groups.Patients in the experimental group were treated with the Thunder-Fire moxibustion, while patients in thecontrol group were treated with moxa stick moxibustion.Patients in the two groups were treated for 20 minutes once every 3 days, twice a week, for a total of 4 weeks. After treatment, the changes of the menopausal rating scale(MRS),Kidney Yang deficiency scale and the hormone levels were analyzed. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was compared by statistical analysis of the data.ResultsA total of 60 patients were enrolled in this study, including 30 patients in the experimental group and 30 patients in the control group. All the 60 patients successfully completed the study, with 0 patientdropping out and 0 withdrawal. The age, body mass index and marital status of patients in the two groups were compared, and the baseline was the same and comparable. Before treatment, the MRS scores,Kidney Yang deficiency scores and hormone levels of patients in the two groups were comparable(p>0.05),and the distribution of general demographic data was balanced, which ensured thescientificity of this study.1 Statistics of MRS ScoresBefore and After TreatmentComparison of MRS scores before and after treatment in the control group:After treatment, the difference is statistically significant(p<0.05),which indicates that the clinical symptoms of PMS were improved with the moxa stick moxibustion.Comparison of MRS scoresbefore and after treatment in theexperimental group:After treatment, the difference is statistically significant(p<0.05),which indicates that the clinical symptoms of PMS were improved with the Thunder-Fire moxibustion.Comparison of MRS scores between the control group and the experimental group before and after treatment:Before treatment, there is no statistical significance in MRS scores between the two groups(p>0.05),suggesting that it is comparable. After treatment, the comparison between the two groups is statistically significant(p<0.05),which indicates that the Thunder-Fire moxibustion could significantly lower the MRS scores and improve symptoms of patients with PMS than the moxibustion with moxa stick.2 Statistics of the Scores of Kidney Yang Deficiency Scales Before and After TreatmentComparison of Kidney Yang deficiency scales before and after treatment in the control group:After treatment, the difference is statistically significant(p<0.05),which indicates that the clinical symptoms of PMS with Kidney Yang deficiency were improved with the moxa stick moxibustion.Comparison of Kidney Yang deficiency scales before and after treatment in the experimental group:After treatment, the difference is statistically significant(p<0.05),which indicates that the clinical symptoms of PMS with Kidney Yang deficiency were improved with the Thunder-Fire moxibustion.Comparison of Kidney Yang deficiency scales between the control group and the experimental group before and after treatment:Before treatment, there is no statistical significance in Kidney Yang deficiency scales between the two groups(p>0.05),suggesting that it is comparable. After treatment, the comparison between the two groups is statistically significant(p<0.05).The result indicates that the Thunder-Fire moxibustion could significantly reduce the scores of Kidney Yang deficiency scale and improve the symptoms of patients than the moxibustion with stick moxa.3 Statistics of Hormone Levels Before and After TreatmentComparison of hormone levels before and after treatment in the control group:After treatment, comparing the FSH,LH and E2 levels of patients before and after treatment, the difference is not statistically significant(p>0.05).Comparison of hormone levels before and after treatment in the experimental group:After treatment, comparing the FSH,LH and E2 levels of the patients before and after treatment, the difference is not statistically significant(p>0.05).Comparison of hormone levels between the control group and the experimental group before and after treatment:Before treatment, there is no statistical significance in FSH,LH and E2 levels between the two groups(p>0.05),suggesting that it is comparable. After treatment, the comparison between the two groups is not statistically significant(p>0.05).From the statistical data, moxibustion with moxa stick and the Thunder-Fire moxibustion both have no obvious improvement on the hormone levels of the patients, which may be related to the small sample size, resulting in no significant difference in statistical data.4 Efficacy Data StatisticsAfter treatment,in the control group,1 patient was cured clinically;3 patients showed significant curative effect;11 patients showed curative effect and 15 patients showed no curative effect;the effective rate is 50%.In the experimental group,1 patient was cured clinically;14 patients showed significant curative effect;12 patients showed curative effect and 3 patients showed no curative effect;the effective rate is 90%.The efficacy of the two groups is statistically significant(p<0.05),which indicates that the Thunder-Fire moxibustion and the moxa stick moxibustion both have the clinical efficacy on patients suffered from PMS with Kidney Yang deficiency, but theeffective rate of the experimental group is significantly higher than that of the control group, which showed that the Thunder-Fire moxibustion was more effective in the treatment of PMS with Kidney Yang deficiency.ConclusionPerimenopausal syndrome is a common disease, which causes great trouble to the majority of patients, and the Kidney Yang deficiency is one of the important syndromes of perimenopausal syndrome,so it deserves clinical research and concerns. In this study, patients suffered from PMS with Kidney Yang deficiency were enrolled as the subject of the study.Based on the analysis of the etiology and pathogenesis of PMS with Kidney Yang deficiency, the Thunder-Fire moxibustion treatment was employed to treat the disease from the perspective of warming and supplementing the Kidney Yang, consolidating the foundation, strengthening original qi,and regulating the thoroughfare and conception vessels. At the same time,it was compared with the moxa stick moxibustion treatment. The study results show that the Thunder-Fire moxibustion has better clinical efficacy than the moxibustion with moxa stick. It is simple and easy to employ, which is worth promoting.
