Overall Lifecycle Of Medical Consumables Management System Analysis And Design

[Purpose] With the continuous deepening of the reform of health management,the management of public hospitals has gradually changed to focus on cost control and lower medical expenses.Strict control of medical consumables has become the top priority of national and provincial reforms.This paper intends to develop and design a overall lifecycle of medical consumables management system to strengthen the standardized management of medical consumables in medical institutions,and to achieve the purpose of realizing the supervision and control of medical consumables by the health supervision department.[Methods] Literature research method of CNKI,Wanfang,PubMed,etc.were used to search domestic and foreign literatures and materials related to medical consumables management mode and management related technologies,which were used to analyze and summarize the key links and classification management modes of medical consumables.The field research method was adopted.We selected three representative tertiary hospitals for onthe-spot investigation to figure out the current status of medical consumables management and system development,analyze problems and propose needs.Business process modeling method was used to optimize business processes with tool of Visio.The data flow diagram method was used to describe the logical flow and transformation process of system data.The overall design and functional structure design of the system was carried out with the Structured System Development Method.The expert consultation method that 5-8 people of health supervision departments and hospitals were invited to demonstrate the results and form feedbacks and revisions was adopted.[Results](1)The main key links of medical consumables management were summarized.Four types of medical consumables management modes of stock-type highvalue consumables,counter-type high-value consumables,separately billable low-value materials and non-separable billable low-value materials were constructed.(2)According to the current status of medical consumables management and system development in medical institutions,we optimized and designed a set of business processes covering the whole lifecycle of medical consumables.(3)Through the data flow analysis,we described the data flow in detail.Through functional/data analysis,the management of medical materials was divided into nine key parts.(4)Based on the management process optimization and demand analysis,the overall design and functional structure design of the system were carried out,and the overall framework of the system and the main functions were described in detail.(5)Based on the requirements analysis and the overall design of the system,the concept design and logical structure design of the database are carried out.The entities involved in the business are extracted,and the entity relationship diagram of the medical material management system is formed throughout the life cycle.[Conclusions] The results of medical consumables classification management mode,optimized business process,system analysis and overall design and database design can directly guide and be used in the development and implementation of medical consumables management systems in medical institutions,which will promote the standardized management of medical consumables in medical institutions,and provide theoretical support and reference for the health management related departments to strengthen the supervision of medical consumables.It have been applied in Suizhou Central Hospital of Hubei Province and Wuhan Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine.
