A Cross-Cultural Study Of Medical Conflict Management Styles Between China And America

The medical conflict is inevitable both in America and China.Medical disturbance which not only caused casualties and huge economic and property losses,but also posed obstacles to the stable social development.Medical disturbances has Chinese characteristic and there are various reasons that caused medical conflicts.How to reduce and manage the medical conflicts is of great significance to the harmonious construction of the doctor-patient relationship and the stable social development.China is a country with collectivism and high power distance while America is a country with individualism and low power distance cultural dimensions.Influenced by different cultural values,there are also difference in medical conflicts management styles between China and America.The previous research at home and abroad mainly focuses on the connotation and the mode of doctor-patient relationship,medical ethics,and causes of and measurements of medical conflicts.There is still a gap in cross-cultural study of medical conflict management styles between China and America.The qualitative research method and content analysis are applied the thesis to analyze 30 medical conflict reports in America and China.The thesis intends to study the reasons that caused medical conflicts,the different conflict management styles,and reasons for different medical conflict management styles between China and America from the cross-cultural perspective.It has certain theoretical and practical significance.
