Objective:Compared with routine western medicine therapy, this paper studied on the efficacy and reduction of recurrence rate of catgut implantation at acupoint combined with conventional western medicine in the treatment of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome. Methods : By adopting stochastic contrast method,110 patients with diarrheapredominant irritable bowel syndrome who conformed to standards in appendix were randomly divided into treatment group and contrast group with SPSS20.0.Each group contained 55 cases.110 cards were made and each was written on the case number and group shown on the software.Accordingly,110 non-transparent envelopes were prepared and each was put into a card.Every patient confirmed to join the group randomly selected an envelope and then unpacked it to get the card. The writer accurately recorded the basic information, number, group and treatment method of each patient. Both groups were given the same manufacturer and batch of trimebutine maleate capsules and bifid obacterium triple viable enteric-coated capsules orally. The treatment group was given catgut implantation at acupoint additionally on the basis of the contrast group for 8 weeks(All procedures of catgut implantation at acupoint were performed by the writer). The scores of single typical symptoms(abdominal pain, abdominal distension, diarrhea frequency and stool traits),the total scores of TCM syndrome, symptom severity scores, the curative effective rates of each TCM syndrome, adverse reactions and recurrence rates were observed.Statistical software of SPSS20.0 was used for data analysis before and after treatment.Results:(1)There were five deciduous cases.105 cases got final entry including 52 cases from the treatment group and 53 cases from the other group.(2)The rate of total curative effect of the treatment group was 88.46% while that of the other group was 64.15%.The differences between two groups were significant(P < 0.05).(3)In terms of each main symptom score of TCM,the differences before and after treatment for each group were significant(P < 0.01).After treatment, there were significant differences in scores of abdominal pain, diarrhea frequency and stool traits between the two groups(P < 0.01).There was no significant difference in abdominal distension(P > 0.05).(4)With respect to the total score of TCM syndrome, there were significant differences between two groups before and after treatment(P < 0.01).The total score of that showed significant differences between two groups after treatment(P < 0.01).(5)As to symptom severity score, the differences before and after treatment for each group were significant(P < 0.01).There existed significant differences in that score between two groups after treatment(P < 0.01).(6)For all TCM syndrome types, significant differences were only existed in the curative effective of liver depression and spleen deficiency between two groups(P < 0.01).(7)Only two cases from the treatment group got adverse reactions of catgut implantation.(8)The difference s in recurrence rate between two groups were statistically significant(P < 0.05).Recurrence rate of the treatment group was lower than that of the contrast group.Conclusion:(1)Catgut implantation at acupoint combined with western medicine has a better therapeutic effect than simple western medicine on treating diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome. It also reduce the recurrence rate.(2)There is no difference in scores of abdominal distension of single main symptom between two groups, indicating that catgut implantation at acupoint has no significant effect on improving abdominal distension, and further research is needed.(3)Compared with curative effective of each TCM syndrome, significant differences only showed in the curative effects of liver depression and spleen deficiency between two groups,It may also be caused by minor specimen or other factors.Further research is needed.
