Objective:To provide a theoretical basis for the prevalence of vitamin D metabolism in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome by testing and analysing the relationship between the vitamin D levels in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome and the related metabolisms. In order to provide early detection, treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency in patients with PCOS.And also avoiding further aggravation of the disorders due to lacking of vitamin D.Methods:This was an study on the inpatients who were treated in Shanghai General Hospital,we choosed 40 women with PCOS using the Rotterdam criteria,a total of 41 in control group.Their clinical data were collected, and the levels of their serum 25(OH)D,fasting plasma glucose, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate transaminase, total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein, triglyceride are examined and analysed. Results:Vitamin D levels were generally low in the sample, the Vitamin D was most lacked in obese PCOS group. The level in PCOS group of serum25(OH)D(36.3±14.5nmol/L)was lower than that of control group(44.7±15.5nmol/L);while the levels of BMI(27.0±5.7kg/m2),LDL-C(2.8±0.8mmol/L),ALT(41.2±36.0mmol/L)in PCOS group were higher than the data of BMI(23.3±5.1kg/m2),LDL-C(2.4±0.8mmol/L),ALT(22.8±16.7mmol/L)in control group(P<0.05).Pearson correlation coefficient showed that 25(OH)D was negatively correlated with BMI(sig=0.048,Pearson coefficient =-0.223).In the PCOS group, patients with vitamin D deficiency had higher levels of BMI(28.5 ± 6.4kg/m2),LDL-C(3.1 ±0.8mmol/L)than the levels of BMI(24.4 ± 2.6kg/m2)and LDL-C(2.4 ±0.8mmol/L)in those who with adequate vitamin D(P<0.05).Conclusion:Vitamin D is related to PCOS and lipid metabolism, and the vitamin D deficiency is common in PCOS patients, especially in obese patients.
