Clinical Research Of Causes And Curative Effect For Root Canal Re-treatment

Objective The aim of this article is to analyze causes of root canal re-treatment and evaluate its curative effect from 204 teeth,in order to provide evidence for root canal re-treatment and enhance the rate of tooth reservation.Methods 204 teeth from 189 patients were selected during Oct.2016 to Oct.2017 which were needed to do root canal re-treatment.According to different causes(coronal leakage,root leakage and complications after RCT),we did root canal re-treatments.We asked the patients to follow up on time and made final judgement of root canal re-treatment after 24 months.After treatment,we analyzed clinical symptoms,curative effect,and quality of roots' filling of those 204 teeth.Results The success rate of rest 204 teeth is 82.35 percent.The causes rage from missing roots to coronal leakage to compliments of RCT.Among those causes,missing roots and less perfect filling are two main causes which take account of 34.75 percent and 30.93 percent separately.The highest rate of success is 84.62 percent which is taken account by missing roots.In contrast,the lowest success rate of root canal re-treatment is over-filled.For patients related factors,location of teeth and relationship between clinical symptom and X-ray showed significant differences.Conclusions The curative effect of root canal re-treatment is influenced by many different factors.Accurate diagnosis and standard treatment will help to promote the success rate of root canal re-treatment.Although the success rate of missing root and less perfect filling are pretty high,they can still be avoided by standard operations and accurate diagnosis.Among all the non-clinical factors,the relationship between clinical symptoms and imaging manifestations shows significant difference for the curative effect of root canal retreatment,which remind us to combine these two things togetherwhen evaluating the curative effect of root canal re-treatment.
