The Related Factors Analysis Of The Root Canal Fiber Posts Prosthesis Failing

Objective: It will improve the successful rate of clinical prosthesis.with the relatedfactors analysis of the root canal fiber posts prosthesis failing.Methods:29patients (in a total of30teeth)who used glass fiber posts in root canalwere collected in Dalian Medical University Hospital of Stomatology(from March2012to March2014). It will be analysed to all of the teeth which were the failing cases by theretrospective study.Results: The study was conducted of29patients(mean age,52.75years;21males and8females;72.4%males and27.6%females). Of all the teeth,14teeth had the obscissionof the root canal fiber posts,15teeth had the fracture of the root canal fiber posts and1teeth had the fracture of the root canal. Their proportions were46.7%,50%and3.3%respectively.11teeth had the simple obscission of the root canal fiber posts. Itaccounted for78.6%of the obscission of the root canal fiber posts.1tooth had thesimple obscission of the resin cores. It accounted for7.1%of the obscission of the rootcanal fiber posts. In addition,2teeth which had the above two problems accounted for14.3%of the obscission of the root canal fiber posts.13teeth which had the transversefracture and2teeth which had the longitudinal fracture accounted for86.7%,13.3%ofthe fracture of the root canal fiber posts respectively. The longest duration of the fiberpost restoration was8years, and the shortest duration was1year.22teeth had lasted for5to8years, and8teeth had lasted for1to4years. They accounted for73.7%,26.7%ofall the teeth respectively. Using the root canal fiber posts to repair the abutment teeth ofthe fixed dentures or removable partial dentures, the failure teeth accounted for44.8%of all the teeth. There were not the failure cases of molar teeth. Conclusion: The failing cases were mostly at the anterior teeth. There were manycauses of the failing. The failing types were mainly the simple obscission of the rootcanal fiber posts and the transverse fracture. An important factor was the occlusaltrauma which resulted in the obscission and fracture of the root canal fiber posts. Theroot canal fiber post prosthesis could avoid the root fracture effectively. It need toconsider carefully When selecting the root canal fiber posts to repair the abutment teethof the fixed dentures or removable partial dentures.
