Objective: It is to observe the effect from the therapy of abdominal massage combined with acupuncture exercise on acute lumbar sprain by the pain’s Number Rating Scale(NRS),lumbar functional activity, and Oswestry Dysfunction Index(ODI).It is to explore the clinical efficacy as well as its action mechanism of the abdominal massage combined with acupuncture exercise, expecting to provide a new optimized treatment scheme. Methods: The patients with acute lumbar sprain in rehabilitation department of Nan ping People’s Hospital affiliated to Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group. The treatment group was treated with the therapy of abdominal massage combined with acupuncture exercise, while the control group was only treated with the therapy of acupuncture exercise.Five days was taken as a course of treatment, and the results were observed after one-course treatment.Three aspects(NRS,lumbar functional activity, and ODI)of the two groups before and after the treatments were conducted inter-group and intra-group comparisons. All data were statistically analyzed by SPSS22.0 software. Results: A total of 60 subjects fit for the research standard in this experiment were included in this research.Eventually,60 cases were completed and the completion rate was 100%.Among those, there were 30 cases in the treatment group and another 30 cases were in the control group.1.In the treatment group(30 cases),14 cases were cured;9 cases were markedly effective;4 cases were effective and 3 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 90.00%.In the control group(30 cases),7 cases were cured;6 cases were markedly effective;9 cases were effective and 8 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 73.33%.The effective rate in the treatment group was more obvious than that in the control group. The difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).2.After the treatments, the pain scores of the two groups were compared with those of the same group before treatment respectively. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After the treatment, the patients of the two groups were conducted intergroup comparisons. It was found that the scores in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).3.After the treatments, the lumbar activity of the two groups was compared with that of the same group before treatment respectively. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).At the end of the treatment, the patients of the two groups were conducted inter-group comparisons. It was found that the score of the treatment group was significantly improved in the flexion of the waist, the hypsokinesis, and the left-right rotation direction in comparison with the control group. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The mean value in the direction of left-right flexion from the treatment group was slightly higher than that in the control group. However, the difference was not statistically significant.4.After the treatments,ODIs of patients in the two groups were compared with those of the same group before treatment respectively. The differences were all statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the patients of the two groups were conducted intergroup comparisons. It was found that the ODIs in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The results of NRS,lumbar activity, and ODI in patients with acute lumbar sprain treated by the therapy of abdominal massage combined with acupuncture exercise were better than those in the control group. Moreover, the differences were statistically significant.2.The curative effect from the therapy of abdominal massage combined with acupuncture exercise on acute lumbar sprain was satisfactory, which was obviously better than that of the acupuncture-exercise therapy group. No adverse reactions were found during the progress of this research subject. The therapeutic effect was more accurate, and the application prospect was relatively broad, which is worthwhile for us to continue to do further in-depth research.
