Objectives:1).To evaluate the changes of ocular high-order aberrations(HOAs)in cataract during a continuouse period of 10 seconds after blinking.2).To evaluate the changes of symptoms,signs and ocular high-order aberrations(HOAs)in cataract during a continuouse period of 10 seco nds after blinking when post of phacoemulsification.Methods: 50 catracts with dry eye and 50 catracts without dry eye were included.Before surgery,total ocular aberration,spherical aberration,coma aberration,trefiol aberration,terafiol aberration and their prog ressive indices of aberrations were examined during a continuouse period of 10 seconds after blinking in use of KR-1W(Topcon Japan).Among cat racts without dry eye,ocular surface disease index,break-up time,fluore scent,shirmer I test,total ocular aberration,spherical aberration,coma aberration,trefiol aberration,terafiol aberration and their progressive indices of aberration during a continuouse period of 10 seconds after blinking were tested before surgery,the first week and the first month after operation.Results:1).During the continuouse period of 10 seconds after blinking,there are no difference in the total ocular aberration,spherical aberration,coma aberration,trefiol aberration,terafiol aberration in both groups.2).During the continuouse period of 10 seconds after blinking,there are no difference in total corneal aberration,spherical aberration,coma aberration,trefiol aberration,terafiol aberrationand their progressive indices of aberrations in controls.In dry eye group,however,the minimum and maximum of total corneal aberration is 0.1797±0.0949 um and 0.2222±0.2819 um respectively.it begins to improve significantly since the sixth second(P=0.0430).However,there are no difference in the corneal spherical aberration,coma aberration,trefiol aberration,terafiol aberration.3).There are no difference in the progressive indics of total ocular aberration in both group.In controls,the progressive index of corneal total aberration,spherical aberration,coma aberration,trefiol a berration,terafiol aberration is 0.112±0.014um/sec,0.106±0.008um/sec,0.113±0.009um/sec,0.117±0.01um/sec,0.103±0.006um/sec respectively.Me anwhile,the progressive index of corneal total aberration,spherical aberration,coma aberration,trefiol aberration,terafiol aberration is 0.78±0.036um/sec,0.615±0.024um/sec,0.726±0.019um/sec,0.742±0.028um/s ec,0.73±0.031um/sec respectively.The progressive index of corneal aberrations in dry eye group are significantly higher than control group(P value is 0.005,0.012,0.008,0.003,0.006 respectively).4).Before surgery,Ocular surface disease index(OSDI)in catract without dry eye is 17.62±0.86 scores,it is respectively 9.84±1.06 and 8.49±0.93 at the first week and the first month after the operation.OSDI scores the highest value at the first week post the operation.However,There is no difference between pre-operation and the first month post the operation.5).Before surgery,Break-up time(BUT)in catract without dry eye is 11.59±2.23 seconds,it is respectively 6.36±1.21 seconds and 7.62±1.32 seconds at the first week and the first month after the operation.BUT scores the lowest value at the first week post the operation.However,There is no differ ence between pre-operation and the first month after the operation.6).Be fore surgery,fluorescent(FL)in catract without dry eye is 0.14±0.006 seconds,it is respectively 3.68±0.11 scores and 1.06±0.02 scores at the first week and the first month after the operation.FL scores the highest value at the first week post the operation,and it is significantly high at the first month after the operation than the time point before surgery.7).Before surgery,Shirmer I test value(SIT)in catract without dry eye is 17.56±4.65mm/5min,it is respectively 26.37±6.29mm/5min and 20.84±4.12mm/5min at the first week and the first month after the operati on.SIT scores the highest value at the first week post the operation,and it is significantly high at the first month after the operation than the time point before surgery.8).During the continuouse period of 10 seconds before surgery,there are neither difference in total ocular aberration nor total corneal aberration.At the first week after surgery,the minimum and maximum of total ocular aberration is 0.1888±0.1211 um and 0.2612±0.1387 um respectively.It begins to improve significantly since the seventh second(P=0.016).Meanwhile the minimum and maximum of corneal total aberration is 0.1961±0.0962 um and 0.2375±0.1021 um respectively.It begins to improve significantly since the sixth-second(P=0.001).At the first month post the surgery,the minimum and maximum of total ocular aberration is 0.2136±0.1448 um and 0.2798±0.1809 um respectively.Meanwhile the minimum and maximum of corneal total aberration is 0.2226±0.1729 um and 0.2661±0.2228 um respectively.They both begin to improve significan tly since the eighth-second.9).Before surgery,the progressive index of total ocular and corneal aberration is respectively 0.555±0.045um/sec and 0.123±0.028um/sec;At the first week after surgery,the progressive index of total ocular and corneal aberration is respectively 0.811±0.026um/sec and 0.816±0.042um/sec;At the first month post the surgery,the progressive index of total ocular and corneal aberration is respectively 0.803±0.031um/sec and 0.714± 0.0361um/sec;The progressive indices of to tal ocular and corneal aberration peaks the highest values at the first week post the operation.However,There is no difference between preoperation and the first month after the operation.Conclusions:1).During the continuous measurement,there are no difference in the total ocular aberration,spherical aberration,coma aberration,trefiol aberration,terafiol aberration in both groups before the operation.In dry eye group,however,total cornealaberration begins to improve significantly since the sixth-second.2).At the first week post the operation,SIT and FL scores the highest value,meanwhile BUT scores the lowest value significantly.3).At the first week post the operation,ocular aberration begins to improve significantly since the seventh-second,Meanwhile the corneal total aberration begins to improve significantly since the sixth second;At the first month post the operation,both ocular aber ration and corneal total aberration improve significantly since the eighth second.4).The progressive indices of total ocular and corneal aberration peaks the highest values at the first week post the operation.However,There is no difference between preoperation and the first month after the operation.
