Objectives To assess the suicidal ideation of long-term hospitalized schizophrenia patients(Patients stayed in hospital for more than 24 months)and to analyze the influencing factors,to provide evidence for prediction and intervention of suicidal behavior in long-term hospitalized schizophrenia patients. Methods 100 long-term hospitalized schizophrenia patients were selected as the long-term group in the Kailuan Mental Health Center, and 100 short-term hospitalized schizophrenia patients were selected as the short-term group.Suicide Ideation Self-rating Scale(SIOSS),Calgary Depression Scale for Schizophrenia(CDSS),Schizophrenia Quality of Life Scale(SQLS),Social Support Rate Scale(SSRS),Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ),Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS)were used to evaluate the two groups of patients. The two groups of hospitalized patients were compared with the suicidal ideation, degree of depression, quality of life, social support, coping style, cognitice fucion and drug side effects. To analyze the relationship between suicidal ideation and the degree of depression, quality of life, social support, coping style, cognitive function, and side effects of drugs in long-term hospitalized patients. Results 1 The suicidal ideation rate of the long-term hospitalized schizophrenia patients was 37% and the rate of the short-term hospitalized patients was 30%.2 Suicidal ideation, degree of depression, and side effects in the long-term group were higher than those in the short-term group, and the differences was statistically significant(P<0.05).3 The cognitive function and social support of patients in the long-term group were lower than those in the short-term group, and the differences was statistically significant(P<0.05).4 The scores of dynamic energy factor, symptom side-effect factor, and negative coping in the long-term group were higher than those in the short-term group. The scores of supervisor support, utilization, positive response, visual spatial execution function, abstract force, and delayed memory in the long-term group were lower than those in the short-term group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).5 Pearson correlation analysis showed that suicidal ideation in the long-term group was positively correlated with the scores of SQLS,dynamic energy factor, symptom side reaction factor, negative response,CDSS,TESS(P<0.05),while negatively correlated with the scores of positive response,SSRI total, subjective support, visual spatial function, and delayed memory(P<0.05).6 Pearson correlation analysis showed that suicidal ideation in the short-term group was positively correlated with the scores of SQLS,psychosocial factor, negative coping,CDSS and TESS(P<0.05),while negatively correlated with the scores of positive response,SSRI,subjective support, the spatial execution function and delayed memory(P<0.05).7Stepwise regression analysis showed that CDSS score,TESS score, and negative response were risk factors of suicide ideation, and subjective support and delayed memory were the protective factors of suicide ideation in the long-term group.8 Stepwise regression analysis showed that CDSS scores and negative responses were risk factors of suicide ideation, and positive response, subjective support and delayed memory were the protective factors of suicide ideation in the short-term group. Conclusions Long-term hospitalized schizophrenia patients have a higher suicide ideation compared with short-term hospitalized patients.Depression is the most important factor leading to increased suicide ideation in long-term hospitalized schizophrenia patients. In addition, memory loss, negative coping style, and less social support, the decline in quality of life and the side effects of drugs are also factors leading to increased suicide ideation.Figure0;Table11;Reference 138...
