Objective:To investigate the effect of perioperative allogeneic red blood cells on the survival of patients with spinal metastases. Methods:This study selected 70 patients with spinal metastases from the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University during the period from2011.01.01 to 2015.12.31.Seventy patients were followed up through a hospital follow-up system.Of these,13 patients were lost to follow-up(including 2 patients who were denied access and 11 patients who were unable to be contacted). The final 57 patients were included in the study.Perioperative infusion of allogeneic red blood cells was divided into two groups, group A and group B.group A patients with perioperative allogeneic red blood cells?4U,group B patients with perioperative infusion of allogeneic red blood cells>4U,the median survival time of patients in groups A and B was compared by Log Rank test in Kaplan-Meier method.Univariate analysis was performed on primary tumor type, organ metastasis, bone metastasis, age, gender, and body mass index. The single factor affecting the median survival of patients was multivariate regression analysis using the Cox proportional hazard model. The primary outcome measure was the median survival. Results:A total of 57 patients were included in this retrospective study, including 36 patients(63.2%)in group A and 21 patients(36.8%)in group B.Log Rank test showed that the difference in survival rate between group A and group B was statistically significant(?~2=4.843,P<0.05).The median survival of patients in groups A and B were 22 months and 10 months, respectively, and patients in group A survived longer.Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that perioperative allogeneic red blood cell volume, primary tumor type, and organ metastasis were associated with survival in patients with spinal metastases.Cox regression analysis showed that perioperative infusion of allogeneic red blood cell volume, primary tumor type, and organ metastasis were independent risk factors for postoperative survival in patients with spinal metastases. Conclusions:Perioperative infusion of allogeneic red blood cells is one of the important factors affecting the postoperative survival of patients with spinal metastases, and is an independent risk factor for the prognosis of patients with spinal metastases.
