Objective:To explore the relationship between peripheral red blood cell distribution width(RDW),eosinophil(EOS)count, serum total immunoglobulin E(IgE)and asthma in children. Methods:Sixty children with bronchial asthma from May 2017 to May 2018 were chosen and divided into mild group and moderate-severe group based on the severity of the disease. And thirty-five healthy children at the same period were taken as control group.RDW,EOS and IgE were measured in all groups. Results:Compared with control group, the levels of RDW,EOS and IgE in asthma group were significantly increased(P<0.001).The levels of RDW and IgE in moderate-severe group were significantly higher than those in mild group(P<0.001),but there was no significant difference in the level of EOS between these two groups(P ?0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the ROC area under the curve of RDW,EOS and IgE in diagnosis of asthma in children was 0.736,0.757,0.783,respectively.Correlation analysis showed that RDW was positively correlated with IgE(r=0.272,P<0.05),but there was no correlation between RDW and EOS,EOS and IgE in children with asthma. Conclusion:The levels of RDW,EOS and IgE in children with asthma are elevated, and the levels of RDW,IgE are positively correlated with the severity of asthma.Monitoring the levels of RDW,EOS and IgE has a clinical significance for the diagnosis of asthma in children, andRDW,IgE can be used to assess the severity.
