Objective: To discuss the relevance between Dmin value grading of patients with bronchial asthma(BA)and red cell distribution width(RDW).Methods: A total of 100 patients in the respiration department of our hospital were divided into asthma group(n=50),which included 16 weakly positive cases,17 positive cases and 17 strong positive cases according to grading of bronchial provocation test, and control group(n=50),that the group is the healthy group. Results: Dmin values of patients with strong positive, positive, and weak positive in the asthma group [(2.88±1.47),(8.01±0.90),(15.52±3.74)Unit] are rising in turn(P<0.05);RDW value of asthma group[(13.18±1.02)%] was evidently higher than that of control group [(12.28±0.71)%](P<0.05).RDW values of patients with strong positive results [(13.86±0.76)%] in asthma group were higher than those of patients with positive results [(13.16±1.15)%] and weakly positive results [(12.49±0.54)%].Patients with positive results were higher than these with weakly positive results(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the weak positive and the control group(P>0.05).The Dmin values of strong, positive and weak positive were negatively correlated with RDW in asthma group(r=-0.901,P<0.001;r=-0.888,P<0.001;r=-0.649,P<0.001).Conclusions: Dmin value of patients with bronchial asthma is well related to RDW,which can be used to predict the severity of asthma.
