Objectives The purpose of this study was to explore the event-related potentials and their occurrence time in the early visual perceptual processing of schizophrenia, and to further explore the similarities and differences of the perceptual closure process of various experimental materials under occlusion conditions,so as to provide help for the differential diagnosis of schizophrenia. Methods ERP data of 24 healthy subjects and 21 schizophrenic patients were recorded with EGI 128 lead ERP equipment.Three experimental materials, face, building and line drawing, were used in the experiment. Two pictures(complete and occluded)presented in sequence were used to evoke event-related potentials. The task of the experiment was to determine whether the two pictures were identical.Neurocognitive function was assessed by MATRICS Consensus Cognitive Battery(MCCB).Results 1 The total scores of MCCB and cognitive function dimensions in schizophrenia group were significantly different from those in healthy control group(P < 0.05).2 There were significant differences in the related EEG components of perceptual closure between schizophrenia group and healthy control group(P < 0.05).There were also differences in the related EEG components induced by perceptual task of facial experimental materials between the two groups on N170.3 The EEG components induced by perceptual closure task in different experimental materials were different, mainly P1 and N170 had significant differences among the three groups(P < 0.05).4 There was a significant correlation between EEG components induced by closed task and cognitive abilities such as intelligence quotient and information processing speed(P < 0.05).Conclusions1 The ability of perceptual closure in schizophrenic patients is weaker than that of healthy people.Perceptual closure usually occurs in Ncl or N170;2 The EEG components N170 and Ncl related to perceptual closure are correlated with cognitive ability, which can be used as an effective index for evaluating cognitive ability and even for assistant diagnosis of schizophrenia.Figure 10;Table 13;Reference 74...
