Objective: Study 1: To compare and analyze the characteristics of event-related potential P300 between male first-episode schizophrenia and normal people. The correlation between P300 and disease symptoms was analyzed.Study 2: To compare and analyze the characteristics of event-related potential P300 between male first-episode depression and normal people. The correlation between P300 and disease symptoms was analyzed. Methods: Study 1: 48 male schizophrenia with first attack and without treatment were enrolled in the study group, and 45 health controls matched with the sex,age and education years of the case group were included in the study group.Measure the two groups' incubation period and amplitude of P300 by auditory Oddball induced pattern.Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale(BPRS)was used to evaluate the mental symptoms of schizophrenic patients, and the five factor scores of BPRS were calculated.Study 2: 50 male depression patients with first attack and no treatment were enrolled in the study group, and 45 healthy controls matched with the sex,age and education years of the case group were included in the study group.Measure the two groups' incubation period and amplitude of P300 by auditory oddball induced pattern.Twenty four items of Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD-24)was used to evaluate the clinical symptoms of depression group, and seven factor scores of the scale were calculated. Results:(?)Study 1:(1)Comparison result of P300 potential between schizophrenia group and control group: The incubation period of N2 in schizophrenia group(288.67±25.32)was significantly different from that in control group(232.31±24.19)(t = 10.96,P <0.01);The difference of P3 incubation period between schizophrenia group(396.17 ±27.55)and that of control group(323.16 ± 29.87)(t =12.26,P<0.01)was statistically significant; There was significant difference in P3 amplitude(9.72 ± 6.29)between the first schizophrenia group and the control group(14.35 ± 4.90)(t=-3.94,P< 0.01).(2)Correlation analysis of clinical symptoms and P300 in schizophrenia group:BPRS factor ?(retardation factor)score was positively correlated with N1 incubation period(r=0.33,P=0.02),BPRS total score and other factor scores were not correlated with P300 potential(P > 0.05).(?)Study two:(1)The results of P300 potential comparison between the depression group and the control group: the incubation period of N2 in the depression group(284.16± 25.32)was statistically significant compared with that in the control group(232.31±24.19)(t=11.28,P<0.01);the incubation period of P3 in the depression group(388.04 ± 27.68)was statistically significant compared with that in the control group(323.16 ± 29.87)(t=10.99,P< 0.01);the amplitude of P3 in the depression group(8.10 ± 5.82)was statistically significant compared with that in control group(14.35± 4.90)(t=-5.64,P< 0.01).(2)Correlation analysis of clinical symptoms and P300 in depression group:HAMD factor ?(day and night change factor)score was positively correlated with N2 incubation period(r=0.34,P=0.02)in depression group, negatively correlated with P3 amplitude(r=-0.29,P=0.04),and HAMD total score and other factor scores were not correlated with P300 potential(P > 0.05).Conclusion:(1)First-episode schizophrenic patients have cognitive impairment, and the cognitive impairment is related to the factor scores of retardation;(2)First-episode depression patients have cognitive impairment, and the cognitiveimpairment is related to the factor scores of day and night changes.
