Objective:This retrospective study aimed to collect information of immature necrotic permanent teeth with apical periodontitis undergone revascularization procedures, and to assess its clinical efficacy. Methods:This clinical analysis was performed at the Department of Endodontic Dentistry,Stomatology Hospital affiliated to Zhejiang University School of Medicine.Fifty-seven immature necrotic permanent teeth with apical periodontitis from 50 patients were included in this study, from March 2015 to September 2018.Data regarding age, gender, tooth position, etiology and diagnosis were recorded. All teeth were treated with a standardized revascularization protocol and had follow-up appointments for more than 6 months. At each appointment, clinical outcomes of signs and symptoms were evaluated and quantitative analysis comparing preoperative and recall radiographs were carried out by calculating percentage changes in root length and dentin wall thickness. Results:In the observation period up to 2.5 years, results show a high survival rate(98.25%,56/57)and clinical success(94.74%,54/57).42 cases achieved further root maturation in varying levels, and 23 cases among them were observed increased thickening of the canal walls and continued root maturation(type I),with significant increases in the average root length(35.1±20.1)%and root thickness area(47.3±19.1)%.36 cases with an observation period of more than one year showed increases in the average root length(21.1±20.9)%and root thickness area(35.1±23.1)%Conclusion:Revascularization allowed the continued development of roots as well as excellent overall survival and clinical success rates, makes it a good and reliable treatment option.
