ObjectivesTo investigate the characteristics and value of lipids profile and uric acid in serum of patients with advanced stage of endometriosis.MethodsThe clinical data of 89 patients who were diagnosed as endometriosis and 102 patients without endometriosis at Women's Hospital,Zhejiang University School of Medicine from September 2017 to September 2018 were retrospectively analyzed.CHOD-PAP method,GPO-PAP method,CAT assay,surfactant assay and uricase colorimetric method were used to measure the non-fasting levels of total cholesterol,triglyceride,high-density lipoprotein,low-density lipoprotein and uric acid in serum.To compare the difference of body mass index,non-fasting serum lipid profile and uric acid levels between the two groups.Furthermore,patients were differentiated according to the severity of endometriosis and compared the non-fasting serum lipid profile and uric acid level.Logistic regression was used to analyze the influence of non-fasting serum lipid profile and uric acid levels to endometriosis,and the area under the curve(AUC)was calculated by plotting the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.ResultsThere were no significant differences in age,gravidity and parity between the two groups(P>0.05).The BMI of the endometriosis group was lower than that of the control group(20.07±2.20 vs 20.78±2.51,P-0.04),and non-fasting serum total cholesterol was lower than control group[0.74(0.60,1.11)vs 0.98(0.65,1.45),P=0.03],non-fasting serum uric acid was lower than the control group[240.00(213.00,275.00)vs 268.50(241.00,302.00),P<0.01].There were no differences in non-fasting triglyceride,high-density lipoprotein,and low-density lipoprotein levels between the two groups.Comparison of patients with different severity of endometriosis,non-fasting uric acid level in serum was lower in the bilateral ovarian cyst than that of unilateral ovarian cyst,(234.27±42.49 vs 256.96±49.68,P=0.02),and the levels of non-fasting lipid profile in serum with no difference(P>0.05).Non-fasting lipid profile and uric acid levels in serum between patients with or without dysmenorrhea,DIE,adenomyosis,different stages of endometriosis and different cyst size showed no difference(P>0.05).Univariate logistic regression analysis indicated that BMI[OR(95%CI)=0.88(0.77,1.00),P=0.04]and non-fasting serum uric acid[OR(95%CI)=0.99(0.98,0.99),P<0.01]showed negative correlation with endometriosis.Multivariate logistic regression analysis only showed uric acid was associated with a lower risk of endometriosis[OR(95%CI)=0.99(0.98,0-99),P=0.00],while BMI showed no correlation with endometriosis[OR(95%CI)=0.92(0.81,1.05),P=0.22].ROC curve showed AUC of non-fasting serum uric acid in diagnosis advanced stage of endometriosis was 0.66 with a sensitivity of 68.5%and a specificity of 60.8%.ConclusionsPatients with advanced stage of endometriosis have lower BMI and non-fasting uric acid in serum,and non-fasting serum uric acid may be a protective factor of endometriosis.Non-fasting serum uric acid is not qualified as an indicator for the diagnosis of advanced stage of endometriosis.
