Objective:To observe the curative effect of Point Catgut-imbedding combined with rehabilitation training treatment on upper limb spasm after strokes.In order to find a new method on treating spastic paralysis after stroke.Methods:Investigating 92 patients who suffer from spastic paralysis after stroke in rehabilitation department,randomly divided into treatment group and control group,each group 46 cases,there were not any drop-out or adverse or aggravation case in each group,study was completed successfully.Rehabilitation training treatment were given each group,while the treatment group was given outpoint catgut aside,the other group was treated with traditional acupuncture at the same outpoints,which outpoints are LI4,LI10,LI11,L15,LI14 and Ash points.Period of treatment is a week,to observe the curative effect after three courses.Results:(1)There were significantly difference before and after treatment in each group,results show P<0.01.(2)The treatment group has 95.65%effective rate higher than 89.13%in the control group(P<0.05).(3)There were significant differences between the two groups both in MAS,FMA and MESSS index.(4)There was no significant difference in BI index between the two groups(P>0.05).(5)No adverse events during whole studies.Conclusion:(1)Both acupoint catgut-embedding combined with rehabilitation training and traditional acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training have good effects in treating patients who suffer from spastic paralysis after stroke.(2)There is a higher total effective rate of treating by acupoint catgut embedding combined with rehabilitation training than the traditional acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training.(3)Acupoint catgut embedding combined with rehabilitation training has a better help than traditional acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training in improving the spasticity,motor function and nerve defect function of upper limbs with hemiplegia.(4)Both Acupoint catgut embedding and traditional acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training can help improve the quality of life of patients with spastic paralysis of upper limbs after stroke.
