ObjectiveIn this study,we collected clinical data of influenza patients in Guangzhou University City in summer, and used medical statistical methods to explore the characteristics of early TCM syndrome distribution of influenza patients in this area.143 patients were randomly divided into Xinxiang Granule group and oseltamivir group to explore the effectiveness and safety of Xinxiang Granule in the treatment of influenza in this area.MethodsIn this study,143 patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into two groups according to the random number table(double Xinxiang granule group and single oseltamivir group). The patients were filled in the case observation form, and the general data of patients, the information of TCM syndromes and the results of laboratory examination were collected. The collected patient information was built into database by Excel software and analyzed by SPSS 17.0 software.Results1.Baseline dataIn this study,in terms of gender distribution, age, vital signs(including initial temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, breathing),laboratory tests(including WBC,NEUT%,LYM%,RBC,PLT,AST,ALT,Cr,Ur),pharyngeal congestion and tonsil condition,9 associated symptoms(nasal congestion, runny nose, pharyngalgia, cough, muscle soreness, fatigue, headache, chills, sweating)and severe course before treatment. There was no significant difference in baseline data between Xinxiang granule group and oseltamivir group(P>0.05).The baseline data of the two groups were well balanced and comparable.2.Distribution of TCM symptoms and signsThe main symptoms of the two groups were poor appetite(141 cases,98.6%),poor sleep(139 cases,97.2%),fever(135 cases,94.4%),fatigue(118 cases,82.5%),muscle ache(113 cases,79.0%),headache(105 cases,73.4%),runny nose(99 cases,69.2%),cough(97 cases,67.8%),pharyngalgia(94 cases,65.7%),nasal obstruction(93 cases,65.0%),chills(86 cases,6 cases).0.1%,sweating(81 cases,56.6%)and dry mouth(64 cases,44.8%).3.Characteristics of TCM syndromesAmong the 143 patients with three types of syndromes,damp-heat syndrome was the most common, accounting for 39.16%;wind-heat syndrome, external cold syndrome and internal heat syndrome accounted for 32.87%and 27.97%respectively.4.Effectiveness and Safety of Xinxiang Granule InterventionIn this study, the total antipyretic time of Xinxiang granule group and oseltamivir group was 3.25(+1.13)and 2.99(+0.81)days,respectively.There was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the improvement of nasal obstruction and sweating symptoms between the two groups(P>0.05).In the improvement of runny nose, sore throat, cough, fatigue and headache symptoms, the oseltamivir group was superior to the Xinxiang granule group, with statistical significance(P<0.05);in the improvement of muscle soreness and chills, the Xinxiang granule group was superior to the oseltamivir group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups in the overall treatment efficiency(P>0.05).In this study, there were no adverse reactions such as rash, gastrointestinal reaction, liver function damage, renal function damage, mental disorders(insomnia, headache, dizziness),anaphylactic shock in both groups, and the safety was good.ConclusionThe TCM syndromes of influenza patients in Guangzhou University Town in early summer are mainly the following three types:damp-heat syndrome,wind-heat syndrome, external cold syndrome and internal heat syndrome, among which damp-heat syndrome is the most common. The effect of Xinxiang Granule in treating summer influenza patients in Guangzhou University City was similar to that of oseltamivir in terms of complete antipyretic time, improvement of accompanying symptoms and overall efficacy.
