ObjectiveTo observe the effect of Liuwei Gubi Pill combined with Glucosamine Sulfate Capsule on joint pain and functional activity of KOA patients with liver and kidney deficiency, and to explore the efficacy and safety of combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of KOA.MethodsCombined with inclusion and exclusion criteria and sample size estimation,60 patients with knee osteoarthritis were selected from the outpatient and inpatient department of orthopedics and traumatology of Shenzhen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 1,2018 to March 31,2019.They were randomly divided into combined treatment group and Western medicine group with 30 cases in each group. The combined treatment group was given Liuwei Gubi Pill(18 g/d)and Glucosamine Sulfate Capsule(1.5 g/d)at the same time, and the western medicine group was given Glucosamine Sulfate Capsule(1.5 g/d).Both groups were treated for 12 weeks.During the treatment period, they cooperated with knee function activities. After the treatment, the VAS score of knee joint, the improvement of Lequesne index and the occurrence of adverse reactions of the two groups were evaluated.Efficacy and safety.Results(1)General situation:1 case in the combined treatment group dropped out,1 case in the western medicine group was excluded, and 29 cases in each group were finally included in the statistics. Before treatment, there was no significant difference in sex, age, course of disease distribution and imaging grade composition ratio between the two groups(P>0.05).VAS score and Lequesne index scores had no significant difference(P>0.05).The two groups were comparable.(2)VAS score:After treatment, the VAS score of the two groups was significantly lower than that before treatment(P<0.05;P<0.01),and the VAS score composition of the combined treatment group was significantly better than that of the western medicine group(P<0.05).(3)lequesne index:the Lequesne index scores of the two groups after self-control treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.01).After treatment, the Lequesne index total score, rest pain score, movement pain score, tenderness score and walking ability score of the combined treatment group were significantly better than those of the western medicine group(P<0.05;P<0.01);knee joint swelling score and morning stiffness score were better than those of the western medicine group, but there was no significant difference(P>0.05).(4)Adverse reactions:In the combined treatment group,1 patient had gingival swelling and pain, and the history of the disease and the patient' s diet were improper and spectacular, without considering the adverse reactions. In the western medicine group,2 patients had mild gastrointestinal reactions, and the adverse reaction rate was 6.89%.ConclusionThe combination of Liuwei Gubi pill and glucosamine sulfate can effectively reduce the VAS score and Lequesne index of KOA patients with liver and kidney deficiency. It is helpful for the pain relief and functional recovery of knee joints of these patients. The combination of the two pills has no obvious adverse reactions and synergistic therapeutic effect. It is worthy of clinical application.
