Objective:Given the cephalometric analysis of individual normal occlusal samples,this article aimed to ascertain whether there was a difference of Andrews six elements among Chinese adults with different verticle facial growth pattern and gender,rather,to indicate the clinical application of Andrews six elements in Chinese adults.Method: According to the inclusion criterias and exclusion criterias,cephalometrics of individual normal occlusal samples were taken under the natural head position.The image were collected,and measurement points were marked by Winceph8.0 software and then measurement results were generated.1.The samples were divided into three groups by the value of FMA angle,which were high angle group,average angle group and low angle group.The metrics of the ?,? and ? elements of Andrews six elements were measured,and the differences among the three groups were analyzed.Use SPSS19.0 statistical software to carry on the analysis of results with the test level ?=0.05.2.Samples were divided into two groups according to gender,and the indexes of the ?,? and ? elements of Andrews six elements were measured,and the differences among the two groups were analyzed.Use SPSS19.0 statistical software to carry on the analysis of results with the test level ?=0.05.Results:1.There was no significant differences of UIFA-GALL measurement results among the high angle group?the average angle group and the low angle group(P>0.05).But the differences of UIFA-GALL distance between male group and female group was statistically significant(P<0.05).The UIFA point of female group seems to be more labial than the male group.2.There was no significant difference of the results about Sn-Me'/G-Sn,L1FA/G-Sn between the low angle group and the average angle group,and between the low angle group and the high angle group,as well as the male group and female group.(P > 0.05).However,significant differences could be found in Go-Co/G-Sn between the low angle group and the average angle group,the low angle group and the high angle group,as well as the female group and the male group.3.There were differences in Pog-WILL distance between the low angle group and the average angle group,the low angle group and the high angle group,and the male and female group(P>0.05).The position of Pogonion point in the low angle group seemed to be more labial than the average group and the high angle group,while the results of female group seemed to be more lingual than male.Conclusion:With the results of cephalometric analysis,differences emerged in the ?,? and ? elements of Andrews six elements with different vertical skeletal pattern and gender.It's suggested that the vertical skeletal pattern and gender should be taken into account in the application of Andrews six elements among Chinese adults.
