Objective:To investigate the current status of demand satisfaction levels, stress, anxiety and depression and of ICU patients' family members,as well as explore the impact of ICU patients' family members' demand satisfaction levels on stress, anxiety and depression. Methods:Totally 290 ICU patients' family members of three comprehensive third-grade class-A hospitals were investigated using the general information questionnaire and Hospital Anxiety Depression scale,Family stress scale and Critical Care Family Needs Inventory. The SPSS 17 software was used to analyze the data by descriptive analysis,non-parametric test, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis and mediating effect analysis.Results:1.The average score of stress of ICU patients' family members was14.00(10.00,18.00).The scores of psychological distress, life disturbance and negative emotion were 6.00(4.75,8.00),6.00(5.00,6.00)and 1.00(0.00,3.00).After standardizing the scores, life disruption, psychological distress and negative emotions were ranked from highest to lowest; The average score of anxiety and depression of ICU patients' family members was 21.51±4.23,the score of anxiety was 10.70±2.80 and the score of depression was 10.81±2.70.Family members of ICU patients had high anxiety and depression levels. The average score of demand satisfaction was122.07±25.52,the score ranges of 5 dimensions including support factor, information factor, condition assurance factor, proximity to patient factor and self-comfort factor were 34.00(28.00,45.00)?24.00(21.00,28.00)?24.00(21.00,26.00)?25.00(23.00,30.00)and(14.31±4.25).After standardizing the scores, they are condition assurance factor, information acquisition factor, access to patient factor, support factor and self-comfort factor from highest to lowest.2.The scores of ICU patients' family members' stress in gender, monthly income, family status, occupation, patient age, disease severity, special treatment and type of medical insurance were statistically different(P<0.05).The scores of ICU patients' family members' anxiety and depression in department, family status, occupation, patient age, first diagnosis, disease severity, type of medical insurance were statistically different(P<0.05).The scores of ICU patients' family members' demand satisfaction in family age, education background, monthly income, family status, occupation, patient age, disease severity,ICU experience, type of medical insurance were statistically different(P<0.05).3.There were statistically significant differences in family stress, psychological pain, life disturbance, anxiety and depression among families of ICU patients with high and low needs satisfaction: the scores of family members of ICU patients with high demand satisfaction were lower than those with low demand satisfaction in family stress, psychological pain, life disturbance and anxiety;family members of ICU patients with high need satisfaction scored higher in depression than those with low need satisfaction.4.The stress, psychological pain has significant positive correlation with anxiety depression and its dimensions, has significant negative correlation with demand satisfaction and its dimensions;life disturbance has significant positive correlation with anxiety depression and its factor of anxiety, has significant negative correlation with demand satisfaction and its dimensions;demand satisfaction and support factor has significant positive correlation with depression, has significant negative correlation with anxiety;information acquisition and self-comfort factors has significant positive correlation with depression;close to patient factor has significant positive correlation with anxiety.5.Negative emotions, psychological pain, close to patients factors and life disturbance of ICU patients' family members have a direct predictive effect on anxiety:negative emotion and psychological pain have direct positive prediction effect on anxiety, proximity to patient factor has a direct negative predictive effect on anxiety;the patients' age,the self-comfort factor and negative emotion have a direct predictive effect on depression, the self-comfort factor and negative emotion havedirect positive prediction effect on depression, the patients' age has a direct negative predictive effect on depression;close to patient factor has mediate effects between psychological distress and anxiety, life disturbance and anxiety.Conclusions:1.The family members of ICU patients in this group had high stress level, anxiety and depression, and low demand satisfaction.2.Demographic variables had a certain impact on the stress, anxiety and depression, demand satisfaction of ICU patients' family members.3.The scores of family members of ICU patients with high demand satisfaction were lower than those with low demand satisfaction in family stress, psychological pain, life disturbance and anxiety;Family members of ICU patients with high need satisfaction scored higher in depression than those with low need satisfaction.4.Family stress has a significant correlation with demand satisfaction and anxiety depression,Anxiety is significantly correlated with stress level and its dimensions, satisfaction of needs, support factors and patient factors, while depression is significantly correlated with family stress, psychological pain, negative emotions, satisfaction of needs, support factors, information acquisition factors and self-comfort factors.5.The negative emotions, psychological distress, proximity to patient factor and life disruption of ICU patients' family members had direct effect on anxiety;the patients' age,the own comfort factor and negative emotion of ICU patients' family members had direct effect on depression, proximity to patient factor also has mediating effect between psychological distress and anxiety, life disturbance and anxiety.
