Study On The Mental Health Status And Influencing Factors Of Chinese Medical Team Members

Objective Chinese Medical Team(CMT)perfrom long-term medical assistance mission in foreign countries and their mental health status seems vulnerable to many risk factors.This study aims to analyze the mental health status of the CMT members and its influencing factors.This study also provide certain scientific basis for improving the mental health status of the CMT.Methods 1,015 members of the CMT were recruited and surveyed by using a self-administered questionnaire and 12-item General Health Questionnaire(GHQ-12)from May 10 to June 10,2018.The network questionnaire survey was conducted.The survey tool was the personal health questionnaire and the GHQ-12.The survey mainly includes:Sociodemographic characteristics,living and working conditions and common mental health status.GHQ-12 scale was divided by 3 points.The score greater than 3 divided into the GHQ screening positive group.Basic data was collected based on the WenJuanXing platform and the R software was used for statistical analysis.Univariate analysis was performed using the ?2 test.The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to test the normal distribution.The correlation analysis was performed using the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient.The unconditional logistic regression analysis was used in the multifactor analysis.Results 808 subjects completed the questionnaire and an estimated 25.9%of them were suspected to have mental health problems(GHQ-12?3).Logistic model analysis indicated that captain[OR1l.833(95%CI:1.025-3.238)],domestic work status[OR=2.121(95%CI:1.245-3.596)],family life[OR=2.480(95%CI:1.500?4.095)],cultural differences[OR=2.532(95%CI:1.685?3.804)].respect from the hospital[OR=1.978(95%CI:1.214?3.225)],disease symptoms[OR=2.402(95%CI:1.586-3.708),traffic satisfaction[OR=1.759(95%CI:1.072?2.934)],leisure activities[OR=3.157(95%CI:1.547?6.884)],using Internet to work[OR=1.776(95%CI:1.204?2.645)]were the risk factors for mental health.Age[OR=0.048(95%CI:0.176?1.010)].using internet to research and study[OR=0.556(95%CI:0.374?0.824)]were the protective factors.Conclusion CMT members have certain mental health problems,especially young members and captains.Therefore,interventions should be implemented to improve the mental health of CMT members and to promote the development of foreign aid work.
